Default A Yorkshiremans European Adventure

Along with my update in the league I want to start one where I will attempt to complete the full 20 seasons.

I dont know who to play as yet so any of your suggestions for good teams, or even just good leagues will be welcome.

I will pick the best suggestion and start either tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks

BREAKING NEWS --- BREAKING NEWS

1pm - It is being reported that Bradford City boss Stuart McCall has stepped down from his post.

-----

2pm - McCall has announced his resignation and he claims that he left after apparent 'crazy desicions made by the board'

-----

4.30pm - In a shock desicion a 17 year old Leeds resident has been appointed manager of Bradford City.

-----

...4 Days Later...

Valley Parade - Press Conference

We would like to welcome our new manager, Bouncing Soul. He will now take questions from the floor...

How did you manage to get the job at just 17?
I won a game of rock, paper, scissors against another candidate.
A few nervous glances follow...

What do you think you can achieve this season?
We are in a tough league but with the right signings I think we could push for a playoff spot at least.

Do you have the clubs best intrests at heart, especially since you are a Leeds local?
Its true that I am a Leeds fan but while I am here I will do my best for Bradford.

Are there any pre season games to look forward to?
Yes I have organised 3 home games against Metalist Kharkiv, Sunderland and Silkeborg.

Do you have any transfer targets?
Henry, Ronaldo, Messi etc.

The press conference finishes with a few laughs, I've won over a few members of the press but the Bradford fans will be another matter...

Thanks for reading!

Thanks for commenting Sam and Man United10 !

Training session 1

On first viewing the squad looks decent but not very balanced. We have a lot of very good attacking players (Windass, Johnson, Graham, Symes and more) the midfield is probably our weakest area with only Muirhead looking better than average.
Defensively we seem OK but there are a few old who I will look to replace (Wetherall, Edghill)

The youth setup at Bradford is very good and there are several players I will look to bring into the senior team.

Windass is one of our top players.

- - - - -

After seeing the team for the first time I met with the chairman to find out what funds I would be working with this season...

After an hours discussion I was told that we would have a transfer budget of £694,515 and a tiny wage budget of £850, this puts me in a tough spot and with many players in on loan some tough desicions must be made...

Nathan Doyle and David Graham have had their loan deals cancelled.
It was a difficult call but I think we can cope without these players and it has freed up around £7000 of wage budget.

Graham was one of the players who was sent home.

Todays League cup draw sees us play a home tie vs Peterborough Utd.

2nd July - Gillingham have made a £1m bid for CB Mark Bower, it is rejected.
YT players Ryan Burgess (18), Joe Arnison (17) and Matt Crawley (16) are promoted to the full squad.

5th July - Friendly - Bradford vs Metalist Kharkiv (H)
ATT - 10,423
Final Score - 3-0
Bradford Scorers - Windass '9, Bridge-Wilkinson '26, Arnison '71

Now that I have some wage budget to play with bids have been made for Gareth Bale (Loan), Callum McDonald (£350,000) and Ian Ross (£450,000).

12th July - Friendly - Bradford vs Sunderland (H)
ATT - 25,136
Final Score - 1-0
Bradford Scorer - Crawley '79

A full house turned up to see our win over Sunderland.

The bid for Ian Ross has been rejected and no further bids will be made, but the bid for McDonald has been accepted and contact talks begin.

- - - - -

Bad news as McDonald will not join Bradford.
A new £450,000 bid is launched for transfer listed Serbian Vlado Smit.

- - - - -

The bid for Smit is rejected so I increase it to £550,000

- - - - -

The improved bid for Smit is also rejected, I have increased it again to £600,000
Gareth Bale has refused our loan offer.

19th July - Friendly - Bradford vs Silkeborg (H)
ATT - 7,678
Final Score - 0-1
Silkeborg Scorer - Fetai '69

- - - - -

Our final bid of £600,000 for Vlado Smit has been accepted and contract negotiations begin.
A £560,000 bid has been made for ****son Etuhu.

- - - - -

The bid for Etuhu is accepted.

- - - - -

Vlado Smit has agreed terms and will join Bradford from Bologna in a £600,000 deal.

Smit becomes Bradfords first signing.

- - - - -

We complete 2 deals in 2 days as Etuhu agrees terms to join from Norwich for £560,000

- - - - -

Thanks for reading!

A decent start to the season, aside from the first game we have played well and are scoring freely.
One problem is that Ricketts is terrible in goal and I want to sign a replacement ASAP.
