Default Follow Follow- Official Rangers Thread

I'm sure there is 4 or 5 Rangers fans on this Forum, and hopefully some of the rest of you show some interest in the 'gers results, at least in Europe, so this thread replaces the old one which did quite well but has died in the last month or two.

So, as Rangers look for League Championship number 52, here is the squad we will have to do so:-

1 Stefan Klos 2 Fernando Ricksen 3 Michael Ball 4 Thomas Buffel 5 Marvin Andrews 6 Barry Ferguson 7 Brahim Hemdani 8 Alex Rae 9 Dado Prso 10 Nacho Novo 11 Gavin Rae 12 Robert Malcolm 14 Dragan Mladenovic 15 Zurab Khizanishvili 16 Julien Rodriguez 17 Chris Burke 18 Jose Pierre-Fanfan 19 Steven Thompson 20 Alan Hutton 21 Maurice Ross 22 Allan McGregor 23 Federico Nieto 24 Ian Murray 25 Ronald Waterreus 26 Peter Lovenkrands 31 Hamed Namouchi 32 Brian McLean 33 Marc Kalenga 34 Steven Smith 35 Bajram Fetai 36 Jukka Santala 37 Gary MacKenzie 38 Charlie Adam 39 Robert Davidson 44 Ross McCormack

Transfers in:-
Ian Murray (Hibs)
Brahim Hemdani (Marseille)
Jose-Karl Pierre-Fanfan (PSG)
Dany N'Guessan (Auxerre)
Federico Nieto (Almagro)
Julien Rodriguez (Monaco)

Players to Look out for:-
Dado Prso- Has reached the Champions League Final so he knows what it's all about. I hope he can do a job for us in Europe, after his brilliant first season with us.
Thomas Buffel- Joined with a big reputation after scoring 32 goals in two seasons with Feyenoord from the attacking midfield position. Failed to settle last season but towards the end showed his class and he'll be a big player.
Alan Hutton- I'm not a big fan of Ricksen at right back, hopefully Hutton can recover from his leg break quickly and cement a place for himself at right back because he IMO is the best young player we've produced since Barry Ferguson.

Seasonal Expectations
: To win the league and get a decent run in Europe, is what all Rangers fans want.

Next Match- Inverness CT V Rangers (Today, 3PM)

Looking forward to the new season. Prso had a blinder last season, but lets not forget Novo who's class. Think we'll win the league again this season and if I had my way, Inverness or Hearts for second.

Glad the Gers have signed some home-grown talent in Ian Murry, but I still think more should be done to help Scottish football. It's a farce. As much as I like Rangers, watching the SPL can be cringe-worthy sometimes as you know nobody elses is going to mouth a serious challange to the "big" two.

I was hoping Celtic hit an massive slide and someone could fill the hole like Hearts or even *gulp* Hibs.

Anyway, I'm happy enough and COME ON YOUR GERS... Not as good as Irons though. Fact.

personally i think we still need a left sided midfielder and maybe in january we could bring in an out and out goalscorer.

Hearts are looking good, they've signed some really good players like Rudolf Skacel from Marseille, Roman Bednar, Edgaras Jankauskas (who was in the Porto UEFA Cup and Champions League winning squad), and are signing Fyssas from Benfica, an excellent left back who has over 40 caps for Greece. Also the manager George Burley knows what he's doing, he's a better manager than Gordon Strachan IMO, and Hearts have done well to keep the likes of Andy Webster and Paul Hartley so I think they should be looking to close the gap on the old firm.

Anyway, back to Rangers, good win although we really had to work. I agree with rangersdude, we need a left sided winger and I also think a right sided winger as Novo doesn't do the job for me. As for up front well Prso and Buffel can play there but I'm looking forward to seeing Nieto when he's back to full fitness.

So the next game is against Famagusta in Cyprus. A good result is essential, I think we might go to the 3-5-2 formation, with Ricksen and Murray as wing backs, and Rodriguez, Andrews and Fanfan at centre back. I hope we get a good result as this is an important time for the club.

I'm sure it's on Setanta PPV, for £7.99.

It's a rip off as I pay for Rangers TV and Setanta as well...

Well I have a rangers season ticket and was in fact at the livingston game. But im going to talk about the pre season signings first of all.

Ian Murray - Stunned at first is all i can say but then again i was stunned last year with andrews signing.Looks good at lb and strong but a bit skinny(just a bit)
Jose-Karl-Pierre-FanFan - My favourite signing in pre season.Looks the business already in 2 games.Mo camara better than fanfan.Dont think so!!
Brahim Hemdani - Never seen him play before till the first game of the season.Must admit played well. Then again so did everyone
Federico Nieto - Scored some in pre season and hopefully can do the same in europe and spl
Dany N'Guesson - Never seen him play but good luck to the guy
Julien Rodriguez - this guy is very good but i dont think he'll make it in scotland

First game of the season

Livvie was always going to be a hard task but Rangers seemed to outplay them by a mile.Alex rae took a superb shot and unlucky mckenzie couldnt catch so dado prso beat novo to the ball and 1-0 rangers.Unfortunately i was away getting food when fanfan scored but i heard it was a tap in.Lovenkrands who had had a brilliant game capped it all with a goal.Ran past 3 or 4 players then slotted it into the bottom right hand corner with his right foot

Rangers .v. Inverness CT

Didnt see the game but barry saved us again

Players to look out for:

Jose karl pierre fanfan - Seems to be good so far and has played with a good team like psg so knows what footballs all about
Dado Prso - Like william said this guy has been there done that and bought the t-shirt.He was top goalscorer in Champions league 03-04.He'll get alot more goals than last year
Thomas Buffel - This guy has also played against big teams so he can help us get through.Hes fast, skillful, and can score goals.Another key player to the spl title
Ian Murray - Hes played in the spl for years so he can handle that.Europe im not sure about

I think well do well in europe but i think celtic will win the league

Team to watch out for:

Hearts - With new manager George Burley and new players hearts are already top of the league and i think they'll be second

My top 3 places
1.Celtic
2.Hearts
3.Rangers
i tihnk there wont be much in it though

We are the people

Hearts to get higher than Rangers? C'mon mate!!

It'll end like this I think :-

1. Rangers
2. Celtic
3. Hearts

We have a stronger side than Celtic, it's almost a fact. If Celtic can't improve the defence, remember Balde is signing for Marseille, they can't until January, so they are stuck with Varga, McManus and Virgo at CB. Mo Camara and Paul Telfer as full-backs are hardly great aswell so hopefully we can get some joy against them.

Celtic have a decent midfield, Nakamura and Petrov could cause us problems, but then again we have class midfielders like Ferguson and Buffel, so we need to be optimistic. As for the strikers, Hartson won't be able to keep up this form for a season, and I can see him getting injured, no way can he last two seasons without injury. "Magic" Zurawski looks to be a bit of a flop and Aliadiere is unhappy because he can't get a game. For me Craig Beattie as well as Hartson is Celtic's most dangerous striker. We ave a top class striker in Prso, Thommo as back-up, but the other striker is a problem. Novo has been in poor form and Nieto is unproven, hopefully one of them can hit form, we all know what Novo is capable of in top form and that is causing teams problems.

Man for man we are more than capable of beating Celtic It remains to be seen how Celtic's weak defence can cope with our strikers, how Fanfan will cope with in-form Hartson, how the lightweight Nakamura can dictate the game, which I think we won't.

CMON THE GERS!!!!!!!!!

51-39 We Welcome The Chase
