Being new to the JumpGate game, can anyone tell me how ship upgrades will work? I played the old Privateer and Freelancer type games and one thing that always came back was something ORIGIN did back in the day with privateer.
They had a series of upgrades for example with your ships computer systems (or sensors) that even though the game was action twitch play and your skill at flying/fighting was key, you had upgrades that could be purchased that would add/assist in your fighting. Examples includes more advanced targeting capabilities. Color coding of targets was even an upgrade (generic sensors were like black and white radar while the advanced versions added target locking, color coding of enemies vs friendlies and nuetrals to even more detailed information of your opponent). I love twitch play, but also like to see a motivation for upgrading your ships with the latest equipment that can and will have a an effect on your piloting skills. (Oh, they even had stabalizers that you could feel in the control of your ships that as they were upgraded you would gain more responsiveness and better agility). |

Well in the Jumpgate series, you upgrade by buying a whole new ship and selling your old one.
Each ship comes with all different types of ports that you con mount different types of equipment depending on size that decides what the ship does. |
