Default Suggestions for improvement

[29-11-02]

After playing the game for just a teeny little bit, I have come up with a couple of suggestions. They are as follows:

- regarding the options in the menu where you can enter data into a textbox: you have to click the textbox itself to enter data, however the name of the option (e.g. "server name", "server password", "add player") can be highlighted. This would indicate that it is clickable and allows you to enter text in the textbox. This is not possible (at least it didn't work for me) and feels a little bit off.

- regarding the same textboxes: you have to press 'enter' or 'escape' in order to finish the data input and get your mouse pointer back. In my opinion it would be a little more user friendly if you could just move the mouse around at all times, à la regular Windows textboxes.

- during some some reload animations (e.g. the default pistol and the double uzis) it looks like your arms are growing from the sides of your head, which looks silly.

- when climbing ladders/entering data into a computer/sliding down zipcords, the view controls (up/down and left/right) are inverted. I find this pretty annoying. Also, it's not possible to look around when entering data into a computer. I'd like to be able to do that.

- when seeing yourself perform an action like those mentioned above, you can't see the weapons you're using. If I recall correctly, these were visible in the original IGI, and would certainly look nice.

I know, not real bugs, but certainly points adding to the overall feel of the product.

[I'll add more items when I find them]

let me add what i think...
so far only 1 thing:
- when joining a server, first take the slot and then load..
i joined today a 13/16 server, i finished loading and server was full... this is not fun for me or anyone.

ok let me add my suggestions.

bunny hopping galore so far... even more than CS.

Fix that right away.

Prone to crouch to standing etc takes NO time.. its instant.

Bad bad.

what else... umm... the recoil?

jesus h... its like every gun except a single shot rifle or pistol has some baby holding it.. mad recoil for no reason

not only that, but trying to even do single shot's with a rifle is almost impossible, no matter waht i do it still sprays out like a madman.

overall, i'd rate this as an alpha build... needs a bunch of work to even compete with the latest shooters

I agree. It would be better if the game connects to the server FIRST and then loading the map...

I also agree. And the view controls are also inverted in spectate mode.

Did they remove the recovery time for jumping? If so then thats a very bad thing, but the last build I played had a 1 or 2 second delay between jumps, removing bunny hopping.

Most armed forces train their troops to drop to the floor at a seconds notice - I've seen a team of Russian Spetznas drop to prone in half a second, and the Russian Spetznas is a copy of the SAS, from which David Jones (the player) is formerly of.

Have you ever fired a weapon?
It is pretty hard to control a weapon, especially when its set to Fully Automatic.

Most weapons have a pretty big recoil, especially things like the M16 and AK74, and even in the hands of a professional there will be a bullet spray to work against, plus the fact that you've got a counter-force working against your shoulder equal to that of the force on the bullet (or so I'm led to believe), which will twist the weapon platform, meaning you've got an even more unsteady weapon.

I'm fairly certain Chris Ryan, the former SAS operative, has had some input on this, so I'd be more inclined to go with him rather than most other people.

There is still some work to be done, hence the beta status - I wouldn't call this an Alpha build at all, considering what the phase 1 testers had to deal with.
