Hello. GRID's loading times are ludicrously long. The game runs great when it's not taking five minutes to get to the race. The splash screen is on for a rather long time, and beyond that, the intro stutters horribly, like a bad console-to-pc port. It takes a good chunk of time to actually get to the menus. Nothing else is abnormal. Thanks.
Specs: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+, 4 gb DDR2, ATI Radeon HD 4870 512mb, Realtek HD Audio. Running on XP 32-bit. |

Loading times are probably a factor of the hard drive more than any other part of your computer. Have you tried defragging lately, also do you know what speed your hard drive runs at? That could be a cause.

I DON'T think it's on account of the hard drive. No other games take this long to load. There's got to be some kind of compatibility issue with the game. The only difference between my friend's computer and mine is that my CPU is slower, but I'm not sure how that can account for two to five minute loading times.

I fully agree w/ Ballast you need a full defrag of all drives. But first, I recommend you cleanout any junk files: Start> Run> type "%temp" (w/o quotes), hit Enter; next CTRL+A (to select all files+folders in that Temp folder), then Shift+DEL (to delete them all bypassing Recycle Bin). Also empty your Recycle Bin. Then full Defrag all drives.

It's a shame that I'm not getting any answers beyond the obvious. I was hoping for a game tweak. I'll just have to defrag my computer and see if that alleviates the problem. Thanks anyways.

You don't have anything running in the background that might be causing the problem, like an anti virus program? It been posted GRID don't get along with lots of programs.
Might use Task Manager to close a lot programs running under your user name and see if that make a difference. And also try disabling your sound in Device Manager to see if if the sound drivers could be the problem.

Sorry folks, but none of these things help. Like I said before, I'm looking for some kind of game tweak. My computer is in order. This problem doesn't exist for any other of my games.
Thanks for the help so far. |
