Unhappy Can't turn on Hardware Acceleration?

Hi - I've got an X-Fi extreme Gamer with 6.10.0.201 driver. I'm running it on Vista-32. I bought GRID through Steam. GRID won't let me turn on the Hardware Acceleration in the Sound options menu?

I've run the Open Al app that came with the program, I've tried Safe mode and disabling on-board sound but nothing lets me turn HA on?

Any ideas?

Taken from the GRID readme it says
Some budget X-Fi cards (such as X-Fi Xtreme Audio) do not support 'game mode'. If you have one of those you will only be able to select software audio.

So i wonder if this applies to the SB X-Fi extreme Gamer ?, maybe a dev or admin will be any wiser?.

the extreme gamer will work with hardware acceration, you have to go into your Audio Console and switch it to 'Game Mode'

i have the same card and i do this just before i play grid and it always works

hope this helps

Thumbs down Me too!

As I've already posted in another sound issue thread, I also have this issue. I have the XFI fatality edition card with front drive bay. This has the Games mode/Entertainment mode/Creation mode. Even when switched to Games mode, Hardware Acceleration is greyed out. I've re-installed the sound card with the latest drivers with no joy.
Works perfect for every other games I've ever installed so I cannot for the life of me figure out why it wouldn't on this game unless it was a bug. And a big bug at that if the game is designed to run best on XFI cards..!
