"Invalid Username" When trying to make New Online Account

I would like to race online, it's the sole reason I bought GRID (through Steam). When I try to use multiplayer, I get "Username Invalid: You have entered an invalid username" as an error? What is a "valid" username?

What did you try having as a username, out of curiosity....

i cant even make a profile as soon as i go multiplayer and create and account it says i have no net connection :/

i tried my character name, different names, words, numbers...

always get same error.

I wonder if Invalid Username os related to all of the other players who can't keep their multiplayer running. Tech support told me to ensure port 3074 is open, it is (I even removed the router) and get same error. People bought this game to race online I presume.

I think any english letter a-z numbers 0-9 are allowed, I havent seen any with a space in or any other characters when ive been online....

I got a brilliant response from tech support that said to try different names. Wow. For the record, NOTHING works, always the invalid username error. They wont even tell me what that means.

Sounds to me like you have the same problem with not being able to connect to the net with this game. I have it too. I was able to create an account in the demo, but would constantly be disconnected.

When I tried to create a another account I was told invalid username. But it turned out that it was failing to connect. Using the older account it still fails in the full game. Will have to see if the patch fixes it.
