DISCLAIMER: We have no ties with Codemasters and this is our own doing. If something happens to your machine, we do not take responsibility for the abnormalities.
"Details of patch 1.1 to 1.2 and what are the fixes for the 1.2 patch fix installer" "Issues of the users with the 1.1 patch" 1) When you exit the game, it sends and exe error 2) The GRID screen menu would corrupt. What I mean by this is that it could not scroll down to see all servers and the screen would blur and scramble all of the menus. 3) If you ALT-TAB out of the game more than once, all of the cars would turn black and/or corrupt menus 4) Controller issues - Force feedback sensitivity would change to random intervals while in game, along with steering sensitivity 5) Lag issues - All through the game including the menus and gameplay 6) The game would have the FPS bug - Framerate would slow to ~10FPS and the game would appear in slow motion and then return to normal FPS but seemingly fastforward gameplay. Happens on average of once every five minutes using any car on any track 7) The game would load slow at some points 8) If you insert your DVD, the game would not start. You would have to eject the DVD and reinsert the DVD in order to start the game These issues up above have been tested on several machines around the globe "Major installation issues with 1.2 patch" When installing the 1.2 patch, sometimes it would not install to the GRID directory. What I mean by this is, on some machines, the patch would install to the Windows directory. On other machines, it would install to the default directory (Program Files/Codemasters/GRID). This issue occurs regardless of installation path or system configuration. The community should be very happy that the patch did not overwrite any files in the Windows directory. If this occured, major system instability would be the result and some, if not all, would have to reinstall their operating systems. To Codemasters, Please, for the community and future patches, provide a dialogue box so that we can install the patch to our directory of choice rather than reverting to defaults. The Team BEER crew decided to rework the patch so that it would work for all of us, regardless of our own system configurations. We have tested it ourselves and it works a lot smoother. This has only been tested for the retail version of GRID. It will not work for any form of downloaded version, such as STEAM. "This is the proper way to install the 1.2 fixed patch". 1) Download the Grid 1.2 Fixed Patch. Click here to download: Grid 1.2 Fixed Installation Patch 2) Go to My Documents. Copy the Codemasters folder and back it up. An easy way to do this is to make a new folder in My Documents titled "GRID Backup Game" or something so you won't forget. Copy and paste the Codemasters folder into this new folder. 3) Open Control Panel and go to Add/Remove Programs. Locate GRID and uninstall. If for some reason the game will not uninstall, a manual uninstallation is required. How to manually uninstall? Go to your GRID directory and delete the folder. After this, reinstall the game in the same place you deleted it from. This will keep the registry entries the same and prevent a double entry. Attempt to uninstall again. If you do know how to clean registries, search for Codemasters and delete everything for GRID. Only do this if you are 100% sure you know what you are doing. If you are not certain as to how to exactly do this, stay with the previous steps. 4) Insert the GRID DVD and install the game. 5) Now install the GRID1.2patch_fixed.exe and select the directory you have installed GRID to. The installation of this fixed patch must be to the GRID root directory (the folder with GRID.exe). 6)After Installing the Game and the 1.2 fixed Installation Patch, Place the Codmaster folder with the Backup you made in My Documents Don. Play Game and have fun!!!! "Conclusions after testing on multiple systems. The fixed 1.2 patch fixed these issues above". 1) When you exit the game, it sends and exe error - FIXED. No error. 2) The GRID screen menu would corrupt. What I mean by this is that it could not scroll down to see all servers and the screen would blur and scramble all of the menus. - FIXED. 3) If you ALT-TAB out of the game more than once, all of the cars would turn black and/or corrupt menus 4) Controller issues - Force feedback sensitivity would change to random intervals while in game, along with steering sensitivity - FIXED. 5) Lag issues - All through the game including the menus and gameplay - Lag issues fixed as long as ports are open to GRID. Make sure to open ports on your router or Windows firewall (port 3074 TCP/UDP). Menu lag is FIXED. 6) The game would have the FPS bug - Framerate would slow to ~10FPS and the game would appear in slow motion and then return to normal FPS but seemingly fastforward gameplay. Happens on average of once every five minutes using any car on any track - Not Fixed But its alot less. 7) The game would load slow at some points. - FIXED 8) If you insert your DVD, the game would not start. You would have to eject the DVD and reinsert the DVD in order to start the game. - Not Fixed. There are still some issues but all in all, there are a lot of fixes. If you do a clean install and install the 1.2 Fixed patch, you should be ok. This fixed exe is so you can select for yourself the directory where you installed GRID and somewhat streamline it in case something happens. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I had None of the 8 issues you describe and I installed CodeMaster's v1.2 patch over my previously v1.1-patched GRiD, retail PC-DVD version, which resides on my G:\ drive. CM's v1.2 patch installer found and properly patched automatically.
The only post-v1.2 patch issue I (and others) noted in another thread is the need to Reboot after v1.2 patching, otherwise will continue to get the Grid.Exe Exception error when Exiting the game. Does CodeMasters or BEERguys recommend users to use CM's v1.2 installer First, and then resort to your more complicated Uninstall+ run "fixed patch installer" method only if CM's installer fails??

If you have the OS and all the Drivers and Directx "Updated" and use the patch I made it will work. I tryed to use CM one many times in defront ways and came up with to many probs. So my Installer fixes all the probs that the 1.2 could not install right.
Same files its just a better Installer. A "freash" Install and "my 1.2 fix" will fix probs, that ppl are haveing. Also make sure your "not over clocking the system" and make sure your "not useing any beta drivers." Should work fine, tryed it out on "many Computers and Hardwear" and same thing my Installer and the way I do it works every time. Last edited by BEERPower12; 12-07-2008 at 09:16 PM. |

Just downloaded the Beer Fixed Grid 1.2 patch, Backed up Grid folder in My Documents, un-installed. Re-installed Grid, installed Beer Fixed Grid 1.2 Patch for Grid. No more issues with my force feed back joystick (Logitech Force 3D Pro). Runiing Ati Sapphire 3850 HD / 256 MB here. Having issues with my DVD, installed 1.2 No-Cd. Works fine.

ok its Hardwear I have installed it on many ati and nivida cards with no probs. what video card and drivers are you useing? I will test it here, any other games haveing probs with that card? If so name theme as well. If its a ati card try to go in to the setting and disable vp Recovery. also lower your monitors refresh rate and lower the Graphic rez
to 1024x768 and try it. Last edited by BEERPower12; 12-07-2008 at 10:12 PM. |
