A COG representative has posted in this thread 15/10 - GRiD Patch v1.3 possible Windows XP issue

When a user running Windows XP has applied the patch, there is a chance that when the game is subsequently launched, the mouse cursor will chance to a spinning disc, the GRiD.exe process will appear in the windows process tree, but after a few second it will simply disappear and nothing will happen.

If a user experiences this, they should add the -novirtual flag to the command line when launching GRiD. This is an issue that cropped up when we originally released GRiD but the changes in this patch mean it may now occur on machines that run the current v1.2 patched game without a problem.

Assuming you have a Grid shortcut placed on your desktop (if not, make one): right click on it, then choose Properties. On the Properties window, go to the Shortcut tab. On the "Target" textbox, add -novirtual after the grix.exe path.

For example, if you installed Grid on its Program Files default location, the target should be:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Codemasters\GRID\GRID.exe" -novirtual
