Default Multiplayer

Has any information been released regarding local multiplaying options for GRID?

I have heard about the online multiplay, which sounds good, but what about local multplaying with family and friends?

Will it be only a single player game or have options for 2 players?

The game will probably have LAN play on the PC version, which is a good bonus.

But what about people who don't have 2 or 3 'gaming' PCs and screens in their living room?

Will the PC version of GRID have a 2 player splitscreen mode like Toca Race Driver 3 had?

Hmm, I wouldn't have thought it would be 2 player would you? I always felt it was a bit naff with split screens - Of course I'm just guessing!

Did the console verison of DiRT have a 2 player mode?

I'm not sure about Dirt, but the PC version of Toca Race Driver 3 had 2 player splitscreen mode.

Splitscreen doesn't normally look good to play on, I admit, but usually it's alot more practical than trying to have 2 or 3 'gaming' PCs linked. I don't know many people who actually use LAN play. Especially if they want to game against their family and friends in the same room. So splitscreen would be a good extra option to give for people who would use it and who find it important. Some people find it more important than Online play.

Yeh I agree and for me the idea of a console is to play with your mates round so 2 player is better than 1 in that scenario. I do use LAN quite a lot on my PC though and use hamachi for games that don't support LAN play

Not everyone wants to play online or has several PCs/consoles.

We really need a 2 player split-screen mode.

TRD3's was awesome. I got tons of multiplayer hours out of it.

It can't be too much effort (for you guys) to just bolt on a split-screen mode, surely!

DiRT didn't have localized 2 player, because of its race style. Each race time was posted after the race, so nobody raced on the screen at the same time. It was cool but weird.

Online gaming can be good, but I think nowadays games companies, in general, are focussing too much on the online features of games and forgeting about the fun of local play.

For me, online can never compare to playing against a 'real' person sitting in the same room. For example, when they try to talk rubbish and you beat them and watch their look of defeat and the whole atmosphere that goes with it.

I agree. Infact, I NEVER play online! Unless it's a multiplayer game like Battlefield....

There's no split-screen multiplayer in GRID, I'm afraid.
