By that I mean, listen to a CD or the radio instead of the in-game music? I do sometimes, when I've already played the game and the soundtrack gets boring.

Not really. The closest I usually get to doing so is when I add mp3s to a GTA game. I have sometimes listened to CDs while playing the odd shooter I've played through several times before, such as COD2.
I mainly play tactical action games where music hinders your awareness rather than enhances the atmosphere, so I generally turn in-game music off.

I usually do when playing onlinegames (after playing long enough to know the music and sounds). I like listening to heavy metal while laying waste to hordes of enemies with sword and fireballs, but sadly, most gamedesigners don't share my appreciation for this kind of music, which forces me to select my own.

I dont, It ruins part of the game, because you cannot hear the real in game sounds. Playing Bioshock with music on would not work.
Only time I have had music on while playing games, is on Unreal Tournament 3 similar to helmchen I love heavy metal music while wasting people. Pitty the in game sounds are not like that

I usually play rock music when I'm playing a shooter. And my celtic music when I'm playing an RPG. With games like Oblivion you don't really need sounds to tell ya what's happening.

For the most part I'll listen to in game music created by the developers/musician, which I tend to prefer over placing actual artists into the game, Dynasty Warriors 4 and 5 are an example of this. Should a song in game involve either someone screaming down a microphone thinking thats singing, or someone rapping then I'll turn the volume down, or turn the offending track off in the music menu should on be available.
If I do have outside music in a game then it will be in the likes of RCT3, which is perfect for that type of thing. Last edited by Hussar; 24-04-2008 at 01:43 AM. Reason: Adding game title. |
