Toro Roso and sebastian Vettel have been in the top 10 for quite a few races now and are starting too overtake their bigger brothers at Redbull racing.
Because both RedBull teams are independent they must buy their engines from bigger car companies. in 2008 Toro Roso bought Ferrari engines and Redbull Racing bought Renualt engines. In my opinion redbull racing develops their car better in terms of aerodynamics and then they pass "chucks" of this information onto Toro Roso so they can keep up. Now that we are near the end of the season its quite clear that the two RedBull teams are level in terms of aerodynamics, but the reason why Toro Roso are doing better than Redbull racing is because of their Ferrari engine. The Ferrari engine is definetly superior than the renault engine and it shows, Ferrari are 2nd in the constructors while Renault are 4th! which makes me think.....will the two redbull teams swap engines for 2009. giving Toro Roso the Renault engines and RedBull racing the Ferrari engines. Im sure Mark Webber and Vettel would rather the Ferarri engine and this would help them keep up with toyota and BMW

It could be a good move for both teams to swap engines but, if Renault have developed a car for 09 like they did in 2005 and 06 when Alonso won both championships they will be pulling their hairs all season long. Renault can build good cars and have had great engines, still, a Ferrari engine is always a sweet deal. Now Renault are fighting on the top with the big boys so they do have a good car. I do have to say that the driver makes a big diference. Look at Alonso and Piquet. It's the same as Vettel and Bourdais, put Vettel in a Renault and he will fly, do the same will Bourdais and he will end up kissing the wall.

The engines will be the same next year as they are this year because of 10 year engine development freeze imposed by the FIAhttp://www.formula1.com/news/headlin...7/10/7037.html.
So any gains that Red Bull, Torro Rosso or any other team makes will be mostly down to aerodynamics. Also i dont think it would be simple for Red Bull just to switch the engine between teams, I think there will be some sort of contract obligation that might get in the way.

Well as they are technically the same team ... I guess they "Could" change the Engines around but as you say it depends on the Contracts ...
