Cool Slipstream........

As most of you remember F1 challenge had the slipstream effect, which as you all know sucks you in. It was very visible to my memory - I think it was blue streaks if I'm not wrong.....

I would like to see this implemented, but maybe not as visible as it was in 99/02. Possibly the realistic wind streaks you see in real F1. Example, if you look carefully at either the front wing (side) or rear wing, you can actually see the air being sliced.

Of course you don't see the exact same air-slice when slipstreaming (until you get very close to the rear wing of the car infront) but I think that affect of realistic air-slice would look far more better as oppose to the thick blue very visible artificial looking streaks as in 99/02.

Also the sound is to be altered as well - kind of that suction/tube sound, as to make you aware that you're being sucked in by the slipstream (or that you're in it) - if you move out of the slipstream, well then the sound naturally changes back to normal ... Also, turbulence should gradually increase as you get closer, untill you pull out of the slipstream - making it a little harder to pull out as you're being sucked in...

Any other suggestions?

cheers.......!

Please speak English, thanks.

I agree with you schuraikoner, the blue slipstream effect was silly and arcadey.

Also something I notice with most F1 games is how often it doesn't make you rev higher or speed your car up at all, it just "magically" pulls you in. This needs to be corrected.. And in past games I think the power of a slipstream has been vastly overpowered. Often in real F1 you don't see them being dragged along extremely fast, instead you get a steady build up of extra speed.

Also, it's an absolute must for there to be the understeer effects of driving behind another car in the corners. I know the rules this year are making that effect less powerful but there will still be some turbulent air.

he meant stop the slang mate its a forum not a text message.

i agree schuraikoner it should be hard to pass because of slipstream but of course it will be reduced this year due to the rear wing changes and changes in general, CM should watch the first few races and base it on that how much overtaking will happen instead of going off recent seasons.

I am not a F1 racer but I always thought F1 cars have disadvantages of slipstreaming (less downforce etc). If its going to be a sim then they should be looking at that aswell.

I think that if they do include it, they need to make sure that it is not overpowered and doesn't give you silly boosts to speed - maybe in Arcade mode they could do something similar to older games, but in Sim. we should be able to get a small increase but nothing massive.

Then they also need to decrease grip during the slipstream part

You are right, but they can use it in their advantage

+ More slipstream = less downforce = higher speeds
- Less downforce = less grip = understeering (bad idea when cornering)

This would be the most important part of slipstreaming for me.. many race games have done slipstreaming, but only to a certain degree.. and i cant remember a race game where your scenario would actually happen, i would like to see that in a non-visible way for sure.
