Atmosphere and Realism are the keywords
-to take a close look at GOOD EXAMPLES: Dear Codemasters employees: Look closely at the succesfull F1/Race games from the past, focus on their strong points and make them even better: rFactor (for example F1 MMG 07): Overall pretty good, but obviously too messy with mods etc... tweaking the setup actually changes the handling of the car, so we need that. Race 07: GREAT FFB, the cars feel HEAVY, as if they are sticking to the road and you are being pressed against the road. Study the handling of F1 cars >>> study real onboard laps: they can give a good insight on how a modern f1 car functions and handles and copes with all the power: give the F1 gamer thát feeling. Further... In the debate about Sim/Arcade: it should definately be a sim, but with enough options to make it easier: for example: F1MMG/rFactor>> difficulty can be adjusted in percents, as for driver agression. Traction Control / Shifting / Steering and Breaking assistance etc can be turned on and off. Race 07 also gives the racegamer a good menu in which the level of simulation can be adjusted to wishes. I have to say, and i think i speak for all sim fans: i wouldn't even want to READ THE WORD ARCADE in the game menu. Unfortunately, we have the problem that lots of reviewers and critics usually can't handle a high level of professionalism and simulation, and their way of writing often makes you think if they can name more drivers then Schumacher, (and thus a game is oftenly judged to more arcade standards)... Please look at the Race 07 and rFactor examples when it comes to the level of simulation, and let's continue the discussion in terms of "amateur/semi-pro/pro". Arcade just doesn't go with F1. If you take a look at all the big F1/Race titles, they were all quite serious games: rFactor, Race 07, Grand Prix 2/3/4, Monaco GP Racing SIM 2 [ great game ] and partially F1 99-02 (PC) and as for the PS3: F1 CE is quite a good game (but what a shame my logitech MOMO doesn't work with it.... ) AS FOR PS3: please make sure that all the well known PC wheels are compatible with it... Gamers spend enough money... let's not make them buy a wheel for PC and PS3 if both have the same connections and other PS3 games DO support PC wheels! Also give the gamer the option to tweak the axis and sensitivity etc... Also for PS3: F1 Championship was a fear start on PS3, but as always: enough things to improve. If we are talking about driving accurately with a hand held controller: the latest TOCA on PC is a good example: great controls with my logitech rumble controller. For the people that would like some more catchy feature next to the standard quick race/championship/training etc: remember F1 World Grand Prix on N64??? Challenges i believed the feature was called. GREAT FEATURE: actual race incidents/situations: up to the driver to solve it: F.E.: "In the rainy 2008 Monaco Grand Prix, Adrian Sutil climbed up to an astounishing 4th place with only a 10 minute sprintrace ahead, when world champion Kimi Raikkonen lost control of his Ferrari and couldn't avoid hitting the back end of his Force India. >> Try to get your Force India car to the pits and finish in the points." Result: Atmosphere. Furthermore... Don't know the possibilities here... but some real F1 random Atmosphere vids and photos (great photos in GP2! really gave atmosphere)? Videos of Helicopter views of the circuits? Action in the pits and on the grid.... I believe MOTO GP had a messy basic version of gridaction a minute before the installation lap. Ok, i'll leave it to this for the moment ![]() >Atmosphere and realism< Greetings from Amersfoort |

well, i'd rather see CM read one long thread, rather than 1,000 separate threads and miss something

thanks revvin, that was kind of the idea indeed: bigger chances are that this thread is actually read by someone from codemasters, then reply number 300 of another thread!
Let's just hope the developers spend even 5 minutes on this forum

as long as they look at the 2 polls and act accordingly, i dont care how many pages or threads there are. id guess they would give up reading a thread after 7 pages as well. everything just gets repeated everywhere. they know what we want, just a matter if codemasters want it ...
if it was based soley on our ideas from here, we would have one spaghetti style game. thats codemasters job, pick the functionality that makes sense and sell that. hopefully realism makes sense
