Default Concerns Over Codemaster's Acquisition of the F1 License

I’m a long time fan of many of Codemaster’s racing sims. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed most of the Codemasters games I’ve purchased, but like many in the sim community, I’m concerned as to the direction Codemasters is going. It seems every new racing game you make gets more and more arcady. The GRID demo is horrible. It’s too arcady for sim fans and too sim like for arcade fans!

I beg of you, for the F1 games, please go back to your simulation roots! Nobody wants to play an F1 game that has arcade elements to it. I realize you’ve probably started this trend to appeal to a larger audience, but you’re alienating your core fans. F1 is the second largest sport in the world, so you don’t need to broaden its appeal, so just put out a solid F1 sim and I think you’ll satisfy the vast majority of F1 game fans.

Easy solution:

"Simulation Mode"

- AND -

"Fun Mode" / "Arcade Mode" / "Beginner Mode"

That would work, as long as simulation mode is sim like!

In GRID, simulation mode with all assists off still feels like an arcade game compared to GT5P with pro physics and assists off.

Face facts Codies don't do sims, you can ask and wish all you like it won't happen.

They may chuck in some so called sim mode which is what they did before that just makes it harder but that's all it was.

You won't be smiling after you have played it if you are after half decent handling. :/

Not holding out much hope for the F1 game unless they completely change their direction from the arcade stuff they are producing now.

Regarding GRID... Codemasters is trying really hard to please their original sim fans while appealing to arcade fans too, and it's just not working! If you go over to the GRID forum, you'll see arcade game fans who were impressed with the arcade looking previews of the game who are complaining that the demo is too sim like, and the sim fans angry that they made it into an arcade game!

They really need to pick a side for each game, and the purpose of this thread is to convince them to make the F1 a sim, not an arcade racer or a sad attempt at both.

i can't believe that they couldn't:

make a PROPER [hard, not impossible] SIM.

then, make it ridiculously easy and call that mode "Arcade"
