Drow will never be a playable race according to Turbine. Neither will an Evil alignment be an option.
I wonder if you're actually aware that the Dark Elves of Xen'drik are nothing like those of Fog Realms? Forget uber Drizzt copies and think more along the lines of savage, uncivilised, tribal people. One particular thread of discussion which was quickly put right by Turbine was whether or not Eberron 'Dark Elves' were actually adhering to racist themes as the similarity with real life African Tribes and their 'uncivilised' pasts. A delicate subject regarding inspiration but it clearly defines how the Drow of Eberron differ.

Shaddow speaks very true. My own character has a Xen'drik drow heritage, but for in game purposes, it's purely a roleplayed background aspect.

Dark Elves is outcast elves for eg. studying Dark magic and alike of that
it would be nice if you could chose between 3 different allignments chaotic-neutral-lawfull good/evil/neutral. if you want to be a paladin you need to be lawfull or for that sake a monk.. druids usually can only chose to be true neutral eg. the Harper order which goal is to create full balance between good and evil. Drizzt is an outcast drow who serves balance. The allignment in D&D is a very important thing to keep an eye on, but if I cannot chose an evil allignment I can always roleplay it.
