Hello to all,
I'd like to start a discussion about lag. To be honest i, and i think many other don't know what the word lag exactly means, but we all know what is happening when this occours. U will see cars 'warping', seeing them drive way behind u one moment, and the next they are way before u. Driving with collisions on, this is most irritating, and i think there will be no one that does not mind this happening. Since i host games most of the time, i get alot of 'complaints' about the server being 'laggy'... And this is what my problem is; Personaly, i don't think the server is the problem. This lag occours when a client has a high ping towards the one hosting the game. From my own experiences with other multiplayer games, i know that running filesharing programs and applications like MSN Messenger that use your bandwith have a significant impact on how well your connection is for the game u want to play online. Here by, i want to attend people of the fact that running programs like this DO have an impact on how well all runs when u are either joining a server or hosting one yourself. Take Messenger: why leave this program running, if u can't 'Alt-Tab' out of the game while u play online? Shut it down until u are finished with your game. U will do yourself and others a big favor by making sure u have the best possible connection to the server u are joining or the clients which will join yours. Thank u for your attention! Greetings, SixUp [PS]Bandit |

Well said SixUp, it is certainly very irritating that lagg ruins the races.
I've found that if you join a game and the ping times exceed 100ms you get lagg. Do yourselff and your opponent racers a favor and don't join a game if the ping is too slow (100ms or more). Especially when playing rated sessions u could ruin it for people who strive for perfection and topscores. (like me for instance 1795 points and climbing up the ladder) p.s. Haven't we've met on the track? |

yep thats the one, somewhere in this forum (other thread i think)some guy explained exactly how this works.
But its a bit like the ATP rankings in tennis. If you win from a much better contender then you get a lot of points. If a lot worse contender beats you then you loose a lot. capice! Rgrds, Woefdram (Peter) |

sorry, I mean a link to the thread where the rating is explained.
The number you see (first time you login it's 1500) is your rating .. your score on how good you suposed to be .... On PC version I have rating 1350 or something, but still I manage to beat 1600 ratings .... Only problem I have is that I make mistakes .... this is because of no wheel but keyboard .. On X-Box i'm almost 1550 now .... (started online 2 days agao). |

Hi Scorpion,
Here's the link: Gascoigne To Boston? Very clear explanation of the scores. Are you really playing with a keyboard? I think it is really awesome to maintain 1350 points with a keyboard. Anyway, to be competetive you need a wheel and not only that it's much more fun. You'll see that you can even win races and beat competition. Succes |
