After many hours of trying different controller settings but still not being able to drive in a straight line I decided to have a go at reducing my graphics settings. Many users here have written that they can play better with low graphics settings so I thought I would give it a go.
I reduced my 1600x1200 to 800x600 and turned all settings to low or even off. I must admit, my steering was a lot better, still not great like the previous games but better all the same. However, I didn't expect to have to play a modern game where the graphics now looked like CMR1. Even though my current settings would make Doom1 look like a modern game I still have following issues: 1. lots of lag in menu system 2. steering wheel oversteer 3. sound seems very muffled Sorry Codies, after being a loyal follower and purchasing CMR1, 2, 3, 4, 2005 and TOCA3 I will not be buying this one. EDIT: my system is Core2Duo 6600, 8800GTS and 2GB RAM. |

Hi Welshy,
I own a very similar setup exept for my 8800GTX and my E6600 runs at 3Ghz. I too have these funny lags from time to time in the menu. Especially while loading a track. Havn't tried a wheel yet so I can't comment on your second point. Have you tried changing your sound settings. Perhaps you still use software emulated sound? By the way. You can join this DIRT - Benchmarks thread and post your fps there. Lots of peple suffering from the same bad performance. FatBaron |

As for your message on another page jeffy, I didn't have the new driver installed. my fault. With the new driver, I can use the direct 3d with no distortion or frame rate loss. THanks for taking care of us!

i noticed the exact same thing: unable to drive in a straight line w/ anything but the keyboard. I played around w/ the controller settings (dead zones, etc) but there's this severe lag between when you do anything on the steering and when anything actually happens in game. And this is on the regular rally races (one car on the stage) where my fps is very high, even at medium/high settings. So it's not an fps issue. Keyboard only I guess
