We do take notice of what gets said in this forum (and the emails that get sent in), but on the other hand we need to make sure that we don;t merely design the game in a reactive way slavishly following the whims of what is a relatively small slice of the market.
so yes, we do listen to you, but we aren't always going to do what you tell us- we've ultimately got to make sure the game appeals to everyone, and not just the hardcore fans.

Just curious, are there sales numbers for each CMR game? Also I just noticed an article back in April of last year that mentioned that Codies sold off 40% of the company, how did that affect the CMR team? I heard somewhere that Sega Rally Revo has some Ex-CMR guys. Any new talent brought in for CMR07?

some interesting questions...
the sale of a majority stake in the company to a venture captial firm hasn't really had a huge effect on the day-to-day running of the company- but it has allowed a larger level of investiment into new hardware and talent. this is reflected in the fact that the new game has 33 full-time progammers on the case, mnany of which have experience in great studios like rockstar or criterion*. it;s true that sega's driving studio has recruited a number of ex-CMR staff, but the majority of the people working on the new game are highly experienced as well. *before people jump all over that, we're not making GTA or Burnout- we're making CMR, but programming's like driving- if you're good, you're good...

Hopefully Sega got the people that where holding back the CMR physics.
![]() The latest GTA games do feature an extensive seamless world, if that could lead to longer rally stages then that would be nice. Im really excited to hear that ex-Burnout people are working on CMR. The Burnouts have been very solid racing games with amazing 60fps visuals and distruction, all plusses for CMR I would think. Does this mean that CMR07 will by running on Renderware? Oh speaking of 60fps, I know the CMR games this last generation have all done a great job at running at 60fps. Can we expect CMR07 to maintain this level of quality? After the dreadful experience of PGR3 with its 30fps and horrible, I cant stress this enough, horrible motion blur, if CMR07 does use some sort of motion blur can you please make sure its optional as the majority of racing games, with blur, allow. Motion blur looks ok if I am watching a dramatic film but it destroys the immersive feeling of actually being there. Last edited by gek54; 13-07-2006 at 04:37 PM. |

Does anyone have the official world-wide sales figures for each cmr (all platforms)? Which version has been the most successful to date? How have they performed compared to their rivals from the same genre?
How much of the market do codemasters wish to dominate with cmr07?

Those are some in-depth questions.

With 6600GT 128 Mb, I have FPS 45-85 with RBR. (Virusprogram (F-Secure,Finnish), disabled)
A8V 2 Gb. I have a tube, that can make it up to 85 Mhz. I use it at 72. It is okay, no need to disable vertical sync. It is more stable in that way. I am happy. In my opinion, driving game is fine with FPS = Mhz, 45-> Is ok. If you want to play with 72, or more, FPS, you are in trouble. It stresses your computer, takes more power= costs you more in electric bill. makes temperatures high, and, what is important, there is no need to do that. Except you want to impress your girlfriend. (some time a go, we used cars...)I used to follow the guidance to upper high. until I got wiser. .)
