Although many post have been made about this but anyway...
1)Difficulty setting: It doesn't happen all the time. When it happens, I have to use ctrl, alt, delete(task manager) to exit the game. If I restart it immediately, it won't happen(edit it happens all the time on Moroco so I can play Baja only after restarting it) 2)End Of The Race: After a rather smooth race for a PC like mine(26 fps-NFS Shift Plays 3 times worse) I got to the loading screen listening to Bloc Party's Talon and really happy that the race was smooth. But all good things come to an end! A few secs later, when the only thing onscreen was a pic of two men at the table outside the trailer and this huge silly red inflatable doll, standing still, I realised that it was the end!! The game had just crashed and I was like ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And had to restart for once again... My specs: Are AMD Athlon 3200 64+ Gforce 9800 GT 1 GB 2GB RAM ''What? You are playing this with a single core CPU? No No! It's impossible! It's designed to play on Duo Cores or more! Go upgrade your system!'' Hmm, Before Ice or anyone here on this forums says these words, let me ask you: ''Why should I need a new CPU when the menus(33 FPS and a guy on another post was happy with 23FPS) and the race are smooth. Just for listening a driver giving instructions and exiting a race? 60+ Euros for exiting a race???? Is it so difficult for my CPU to handle a voice clip or whatever it's called?Pls Codemaster do something else and don't even think of ''the new CPU advice!'' You are the techs, you are the only one who can help me!!! Maybe you shouls start searching for bugs...I wanna play!

There 3 sound settings, software, hardware and this new Rapture3D. Are you using Rapture3D? If so, try software or hardware ( if have a sound card ) setting.

GFWL stole my game Say hello to Steam and goodbye to GFWLThere hope now that GIRD 2 will not use GFWL. |

Had the same freezing problem here!
At first I thought It was a win7 bug, so I re-Instaled winxp, but problem Insisted! Then I re Installed my audio card and used the on board sound, but nothing... ![]() Finaly, I found the root of evil! ![]() Un Installed my 9800GTX+ and Istalled my previous card, a 8800GT and...voila! Problem solved! Stil, the question remains, why 9800GTX+ behaves that way? I'm emailing the Nvidia group right now...I'll keep you guys posted when they respond! Seems It's a 9800 series Issue or something... |

I hate to say it, but the problem is that your CPU is only a single core. I'm 99% sure that DiRT 2 won't run correctly on a single core system and that is by design. See DiRT 2 PC GFWL Recommended and Minimum Specifications
That applies to everyone else too. It won't matter what your graphics card is, DiRT 2 won't work for you if you only have a single core CPU.

Then release a patch for this pls!!! Do something It's simply unbelievable! I'm sure a lot of people wanna play and don't have a dual CPU! And don't forget that even some Dual Core users have same problems mr Oved!
Maybe you should check how much CPU is used at these two occasions and try to lower the need of it from 92% to 88% for example or tell us if a bit of overclocking can solve the issue. Or have a contact with nvidia because many of the PC users with this problem have the 9800GT(like me)/GTX. Or explain us what you mean with''the game was designed for two CPUS and how a dual core CPU works. Does it give power when the first core cannot respond enough? I wanna know as I've tried many other games who require a dual core and they play like *%^*$ but at least they play.'' Also, maybe it would help you to know that the sound doesn't stop when it crashes(only the driver's instructions and the music) but the crowd noises and car background sounds are still here) Last edited by Kostis; 04-12-2009 at 01:21 PM. |
