Default No Macros, different colors or not. Period.

Seriously. It's understandable that you want to appeal to the masses by allowing every hobo to play adequate music, but why for f**ks sake take away the only thing to be seen in a modern MMOG that actually requires skill?

You could just as well add an "easy mode", where there are only 4 buttons: red, green, yellow and blue. They blink in succession and the user has to press the corresponding key to activate the right tone. Remember that? Yea, 2 year olds play that. Let's add content for childs to a computer game in which you slay orcs that are out to eat up mankind, great idea.

I'd rather hear no music, or bad music, than music that is none.
(Just like I listen to music played on real instruments in real life rather than listening to mind numbing techno)

And what makes you think people are not already using 3rd party software.

Right so you actually play the lute irl while dancing around a desk and making your fellowship feel better? You really swing a mace IRL and shout out loud to harm the trolls you are fighting?

Its a game ,a mmo for crying out loud not a simulator of real life. Who cares if people have macros to play songs in the prancing pony? really who cares, it might bring some more depth to roleplaying characters with skills YOU DONT HAVE hence its roleplaying.

You do know that most people have already turned off player instruments due the excruciating spam in towns?
The instruments was a nice idea in theory, but not in practice. I'm glad you enjoy playing with the system, but it really makes no difference if macros are allowed or not.

Yes, yes I actually am. I suck at playing the lute IRL too.

I have instruments on and I listen to them. Saw one yesterday who played for the first time and after about 10 minutes he figured out a random combination of tones that actually sounded quite harmonic, so I sat there listening to him trying further for a while.

There's people spamming nonsense but it takes about 20 steps to get far enough away from them to not hear it. I'd rather have it like that than to have someone playing the star wars theme every 10 meters. Currently only few people play it, because it takes a little to figure where to get the tools to do it.

When they allow macro playing in June (probably) you wont get the same spamming of rubbish.People will not run them to play Star Wars themese when theres so much music to play that sounds fantastic.
Really im at loss why anyone would insist that this ONE thing thats not even anything other than there for fun, would have to rely on ones real life skill.

The only reason we advance at the rate we do ,level wise, is because they have a system that doesnt rely on us hitting a golf game like bar/swing meter. Imagine how long youd last then lol.

Its a fun thing music thats all and people need to remember that tbh.

Im all for macros in the music system. It will allow me to use that part of the game that is only partially accessible at the moment (because of my limited skill).

Just because I lack the necessary skill to play should not exclude me from hearing what I want inside the game. If people don't like macros I think they are just being selfish, and more than a bit prissy about it.

Talented folks will still be able to show off because they can play together.

I play the guitar in real life yet i cannot play the Lute in the game because its nothing like doing it for real. I want to be able to create a macro with all my favorite and self wrote tunes and to hear them in the game.

Im not going to relearn how to play something i already know how to play in real life. I would not hide behind the fact im using macros and would admit to it if anyone asked. I dont want to claim fame or enter any music contests in game. I just want to have fun and jam some tunes out for my friends to hear while we are roleplaying or waiting to start a quest.

That is what the game is about, having fun. You dont agree? then im sorry you can not be happy.

I think an official macro system that identifies itself when played is the lesser of two evils here.

It may increase the number of people using scripts but at least they will flag and maybe even tempt them to try real play.

Those that want to use 3rd party apps to try to pass scripts off as real skill will still do so but that's life.

I play using the default key layout and I think I'm getting pretty good and it really takes a lot out of you when you put your heart into playing a song you spent days pefecting only to have people accuse you of scripting it or downloading it off the net somewhere

If you lack the necessary skill then you simple are not good enough. Why should you suddenly be a "genius" by using macros? Who is selfish here? I dont want to hear a song from a macro. This will ruin the music system. However, i'll continue playing without macro, because i can whatever happens in Juni. I do hope that if macro is coming that there is a way so you can see its macroplay and not real play.
