How to switch to 2 Weapon Fighting from Bow?

I have a 2.1 Lvl Ranger who specialises in both Archery and 2 Weapon Fighting. But when ever I'm on a quest with my fellow companion, I initially cover his back with my bow using Stealth. Though quite often I find myself in melee as they sometimes swarm me. At which point I switch from my bow to my trusty +1 Scimitar and supposedly +1 Short Sword.

But as you can guess my Fighting Hand keeps flicking to either sword and my Off Hand stays happily empty (unless I bring up my inventory and physically place my +1 Short Sword into my Off Hand). When I played Neverwinter Nights, I was able to placed both weapons on the shortcut bar, but I am unable to do this in DDO.

Can anyone help me with this? Is there a short cut to using 2 Weapon Fighting (as everything seems to) or am I doomed to having to run away (and leave my companion alone) everytime so that I can open my Inventory window without being hit by the hordes?

doomed until they update it. Also theres gotta be upwards of twenty posts mentioning this mate

Someone posted the other day a quote from the US forums stating that there actually was a feature for this already. It went something like this:
"Equip a weapon in each hand. Drag the weapon from the HAND to a quickbar slot. Do not drag it from the inventory."

Did anyone try this?

Surprised if it works someone would have been bound to discover it by now, but worth a try maybe
