ok two things I know they will fall on deaf ears but its worth a try
1 start a fight with ranged weapon u will do some damage and the monster will mostley charge at you where upon u can start kicking hte crap out of it with you big swinging axe sword whatever. Doing it this way keeps the group together and helps the people with mana pools who heal you keep line of sight. 2 for gods sake if you simply must carry a 2 handed weapon pls for the love of all thats holy learn to block and use block once in a while mabe you could work out a system of oh I don't know the monster tries to hit you and you block it then hit it instead. In this way healers will not burn there mana in five minutes while you lie bleeding to death on the floor spaming HEAL ME HEAL ME HEAL ME OH **** IM DEAD THIS SUX YOUR A CRAPIE CLERIC/WIZZARD (if warfordge)/BARD. I dont expect any answers to this post none positive anyway I'm just venting. This has been a public service anoucement on behalf of anyone whos job it is to heal you. p.s if your a mage who spams there damage spells and dies a lot you may posbibly want to rethink you tacktics. |

I hate those wannabe rangers shooting every mob not even in aggro range Quote:
And ask your friendly cleric for shield of faith. 2hd fighters are not build to tank or absorb damage. Quote:
Better dead weight than dead weight and a mana sink. Arcane power is to do CC and drop casters / bosses fast. |

Seriously, my friend, you are a way off the mark with this advice. Now I do not claim to be an expert on all things DDO, and I stopped reading the US forums because of the very opinionated people stating THIS IS HOW IT MUST BE DONE, but I have been playing a 2 handed fighter since January, and there is no place in 2 handed weapon fighting for blocking. In most fights you are up against more than one enemy, and things are happening too fast to be watching their weapons or stances for when they are about to take a swing at you (most happen too fast anyway). In these cases you just have to move well, try prevent have enemy at your back (their +2 attack from flanking), try to get behind them (for your +2 flanking bonus), and try to keep an eye on the mage / rogue in case they start getting beat upon. In the few fights when you are up against a solo boss or something that is considerably higher level than yourself, then again use strafing, tumbling, even jumping to avoid his attacks and try to get behind him. There is a reason the developers introduced Spring Attack. Strafing with out any cost or penalties was just too good! Get the feats and move. Other no brainer advice that I am sure almost all such fighters use are: Wait until the higher armoured players have gone in and got agro (only takes a few seconds), then rush in and flank the enemy as much as possible. Using the above gives you time to use your buffs and spells like shield, protection from evil / fire etc. if you had items with those. Get as many of these items as you can, and put them on your shortcut bar. Go for spell casters first. Let archers do their bit, even use your own range weapon (as you correctly mentioned above). Let the rogue try to pull one or a few monsters at a time, back around a corner say. Use the game mechanics to your advantage. Get as many of the above items as you can for example, go true neutral and use stability armour, go chaotic and use certain bracers. Plan your char in advance. These are just some basics tip I can think of off the top of my head, and I am sure there are plenty others out there. I take it you had a bad experience with a 2 handed fighter who was more of a burden on the party than an asset, and I can emphasise with that, I also hate to lose XP / missions whatever from other peoples bad playing. Mistakes we all make though and usually it is best to just laugh at them. I do appreciate the fact that you don't just tell us too lose the 2 handed sword and use shields! I take a certain pride in requiring very few heals (and actually feel a bit embarrassed when I do), and most of the damage I do take is from fire, but then again trying to convince a cleric to cast extended fire protection on me takes some talking (in many cases I think it is a more optimum use of clerical SP). My resist fire item is on a robe, so it takes time to switch to robe, cast it, then switch back to full plate, but there is a certain cloak or even booties that I am hoping to obtain at some point which should help with this. If they gave you full stats for damage dealed and damage taken, then this might encourage some players to play and view things differently, rather than just a kill count (though I am usually quite pleased with score, but then that is one of the reason I personally play). If some one is playing badly tell them (though honestly, getting a 2 handed fighter type to block is not really an option). If you are the leader warn him/her, then kick if they really are more a burden than an asset. Or if not the leader, then tell the leader you are going to leave unless he does something about it (and I doubt many groups want to see their cleric leave mid way through a quest). Just my humble opinion, but if you have to give out scathing advice, I suggest you know what you are talking about first. Slayer Boldrei |

I've just deleted my 2 handed fighter/barb due to her being a big hole for the Cleric to pour mana down...
Even if I let other people get aggro 1st 1 good hit with Carniflex* and She had aggro. Enemy Spell casters LOVED her. With a +5 will save** at level 7 she failed more will saves that a fat person in a chocolate shop... Held - Feared - Stunned - Doomed - Baned - Enfeebled - Cursed. Been them all, on one memorable occasion almost all at once! 2 handed fighters - GREAT fun at low levels - an absolute liability at higher ones ![]() And I don't even play a Cleric... *with power attack running - person best was 96 damage in one hit... I'm sure people have done more.**And i'd really tried to do something about it. Starting off with it @ -1 didn't help...

@ Elassar
Great idea - send in the caster to pull the taurs, elves and trolls in the temples of Gwelyns Stand with CC Alternatively - stand at the end of the webbed corridoor and have the ranger run back with a couple of mobs.
