This Q was also asked regarding the V8 Supercar Driver game....
There two types of the Logitech FF wheel. One of course there is the current model, which includes most of the Dual Shock 'keypad' in the wheel, plus the X,Y,A and B buttons. Then there is the older model which ONLY has the X,Y,A and B buttons (ie 'GT3' wheel). Example - V-Rally 3 With the 'GT3' wheel, due to it's lack of a keypad and the four main buttons (as on the Dual shock controller), once you're in the actual driving section of the game, you cannot pause the game or change driving views. Basically, the Dual Shock is 'locked out' once you enter a driving section. If that doesn't bother you then once you finish a stage, it displays the summary (times etc) and says press 'X' to continue..... For reasons best known to the developers of V-Rally, they have decided to 'lock-out' the functions of the Dual shock controller whilst using the wheel. So you can't even press 'X' to continue the game, leaving you nothing left but to reset the PS2. This would p*ss me off a hell of a lot more if the game was any good with the wheel, but the control is cr*p. The game is much better played with the Dual Shock, but if a game plays cr*p with a wheel, it's not worth buying IMO. So with that in mind.... Is the GT3 wheel FULLY compatible with Colin McRae Rally 3? |

Which version of the wheel have you got? Does any one have the GT3 wheel that does not have D-pad (called the GT Force)?
Or does everyone have the Driving Force (the one with the D-pad) I am just interested - the Driving Force is much better wheel. I will check on what happens with the GT Force and controllers. |

I own the Logitech Wingman Formula Force GP Wheel which is suppose to be identical to the GT Force wheel. I am able to navigate through out the entire game of GT3 just using the wheel. There are probably more people at least in the US that own the GT Force wheel that was released with Gran Turismo 3. I would be extremely dissapointed if I have to buy another wheel becuase I only have 6 buttons on my wheel. Maybe it would be a good idea to get some sales figures from Logitech to get a better idea of how many people own which wheel. Simple solution would be to let the user map the buttons which should be a standard option for any game.

We have 2 types of wheels supplied by Logitech:
The GT Force (no D-pad) - this has Japanese writing on the box. The Driving Force (D-pad) - this has a better FF motor & analog paddles (rather than digital buttons). We will be supporting both through the Logitech PS2 libraries. If it happens that PC logitech FF wheels work with the game then all the better - but we won't explicitly support them. For the non-Dpad wheels we will allow input from the Dual Shock so you can navigate the menu's. |

Gek, as of last month the Act-Labs RS Force wheel is now supported with the PS2 for F1-2002. If the dode knows whether or not CMR3 will be the same then you may want to look into getting this wheel, it friggin rocks! I'm picking it up as soon as I make it back to the motherland..
I imagine there won't be any problems with this wheel on the PC version of CMR3 right dode? |

Here is a pretty good review and comparison of PC FF wheels. To bad the Driving Force is missing from the review.
