thought we should make a seperate comments for the patched demo (other was getting very long :-)
Good Things Gfx def. look a lot better now - and it still runs silky smooth as it did before (on mine) Bad Things Using a MOMO Force wheel, there are no force effects whatsoever on the road, reagrdless of the surface type. I can only get any feel from the wheel if i go on the grass banks etc. Driving along the road, the wheel is COMPLETELY LOOSE!! - what gives Zzzz? For reference - in CMR2, i can tell the difference in grip levels between say, tarmac & gravel, as it should be. *UPDATE* just had another go on it, and it dawned on me that the only feedback effects, are those you would expect with a gamepad - ie rattles etc. and nothing to indicate forces controlling wheel turn strength/direction. Please tell me the final will have real force-feedback wheel code in there, otherwise another sale goes down the plughole. |

the patched demo IS better. It runs much smoother now BUT the FORCE FEEDBACK is still not right....return to center spring only worked first time i started the demo now it doesnt work at all...
In cmr2 there was a setting called "quick force update" or something like that, i needed to have that setting ON for the FF to work correctly with my wheel ( MS sidewinder FF wheel under winXP). Im starting to think you might have forgotten to implement this setting for cmr3??? also i dont feel the texture of the road at all which worked really good for CMR2! it´s allmost like the FF is made for gamepads and not for wheels! please fix it!!! I have installed the demo upgrade correctly, i have installed directx 9 and i´m using the latest graphics driver from Nvidia. My specs: | T-bird 1200Mhz | Abit KT7a | 512 MB PC133 | 40+30 GB ATA-100 HD | GeForce4 Ti4200 64MB | Terratec DMX 6fire 24/96 soundcard | Lite-on 40x12x48x | MS Sidewinder FF wheel USB | Telia ADSL | |

just agreeing to what has been said before, the patched version is much better handling wise, good job BUT the force feedback has to change.
same as above but using ms ff wheel it has been designed for a gamepad hasnt it... nothing on roads, suddenly its "bumpy" off road, thats not ff thats "dual shock". please maybe we are too demanding but every other race game manages it and even cm1 and 2 lol you need to "feel" the car across varying surfaces, "feel" yourself losing grip etc, accurate amounts of bumps and resistance to motion. NOT 'rumble' / 'dont rumble' - nintendo came up with that one about 6 years ago lol (for a shooter too - goldeneye i beleive not a race game) we need more! fix the ff and this will be a great game after all |

I,m using a guillemot ferrari FFB wheel and the force feedback is
a major issue for me also. I get no centering spring at all, the wheel is just loose all the time. As already stated in the above posts there is no feeling on any road surface at all, this really spoils the game for me. Ah well, at least the steering feels a bit more linear in this game, unlike the steering in PRD which is an absolute joke. Come on codies, please sort the FFB out and you'll make a lot of people happy. |

i think all the above, pretty much confirms that our wheels (probably THE 3 most popular brands) are either not going to be properly supported in the game, or there are still serious problems to be sorted
btw - force feedback works perfectly with every other game i have installed, and i'm using DX9. Come on Codemasters - whats the score here? |

yep every other game works fine for me...
Ive even bought a new version of the ms ff wheel (with red rubber grip) as i had the gameport one before. Its only cmr3 which has this problem. My worry is, that its not a problem at all.. and that is how it is programmed to be, see my above comments about gamepads and "dual shock". I think its no coincidence every wheel, as you say, the three most popular, all have the same problems, and codemasters dont mention this in the readme. I think the ff in game is just designed like everything else codies do nowadays for consoles and therefore gamepads, and so is not up to standard for expensive pc wheels. Hopefully codemasters will address this as they did with the steering, which was a good job [unlike trd ]we'll have to see. any comments from codemasters regards to ff?? |

For me CMR2 had the best force feedback for a FF steering wheel of any racing game i´ve ever tried and we´ve been waiting so long for CMR3 now...if they don´t get the force feedback as good or preferably better than CMR2 i will NOT buy this game...i can´t play racing games without FF now that im used to it and CMR2 set the standard for me! CMR2 was the reason i ever bought a steering wheel in the first place and i have yet to see a game that can beat the "feel" of driving in that game. Only thing i don´t like about CMR2 was that it was a bit too much "arcade" and the online features were lousy. Codemasters: Get they guys who did the FF on CMR2 back on this game NOW!!! SHAPE UP! :-) for real! You´re letting us down!!! and on a sidenote: I for one LIKE Toca race driver (US: Pro race driver). The FF is pretty good in it...the only real problem is the damage physics is too "nice" or "kind" and then theres this problem with online racing now where everybody cheats by editing certain game files to make cars go faster and stuff...hope they´ll fix that but overall it´s a nice game. right now Rally fans will have to wait for games like Xpand rally or Richard burns rally instead to see if they´re anything.... |

I've had this problem since CM2 and still do in CM3.
From the start of a stage the game runs ok then shortly after it starts to go from ca 10 fps to 40 in and out every 2-3 second. This ruins the gameplay. Wheel suport is working on my Thrustmaster FF, havent tried FF. Handling and grapichs way better. NO multiplayer, Alternate driver mode + plenty other things we would expect to be there in the final release. IM NOT BUYING THIS "DEMO" EDIT I found a fix for my problem. U got to turn Vertical sync OFF most nVIDIA drivers dont give u this option. U can downloade this fix from http://download.guru3d.com/ it's a small registry patch that enabels OC and option to turn vertical sync ON-OFF. file name is COOLBITS. No info on this in the CM3 readme file. I enjoyd the game much better now, looks good, sounds ok, handling as CM2, features as i understand comming in the final realese will be 50% less than CM1. And the menues are plain ugly --------------------------------------------------------------------- GF3 - 40.72 Nforce2 512 DDR XP 2200 WinXP sp1 DirectX 9a |
