Exclamation Codies - Forget about CMR4 for PC.. try something new....

Zzzzz et al

Im not sure what your plans are for CMR4 for PC exactly, there is a beta test going on somewhere in Codies land where you asked for testers a few months ago to try out an advanced driving sim, which sounds very much like CMR4's new handling - could be wrong here though!

Anyways, forget about just porting over CMR4 to PC, how about putting together a PRO version, which would basically be CMR3 and 4 combined - specifically tested and setup for PCs with LAN and Internet MP.

One advantage would be the possibility of Track Length, ie, the 6 typical stages from CMR3 could be made into 3 longer tracks (i believe they continue as such) and the same for the tracks from CMR4, thus giving and overal of six long stages per rally. I believe the engine for both games is similar (please tell me if not) and this could be a possibility.

Im sure this general idea of combining CMR3 in with 4 to create a PRO (Gold) version with MP would be good PR for Codies and also be good for all of us PC users who where / are dissatisfied with CRM3 and the lack of online MP but would love to race the CMR3 tracks online head to head.

PPL may say it will take up too many CDs, but as pointed out in a current CMR3 thread, there is a hell of alot of useless large and small files that are installed with CMR3, also you could drop the low res videos and sound.

The cost of the finished version may be more than a CMR4 port, but i would be willing to pay for it, and providing a demo was released early on to test MP and also FF so that they work just as good as even CMR2 does, im sure it would sell even at a higher cost.

Xis,

What you said is a GREAT idea !

After the long wait (maybe), PC player should be rewarded with something special, not just a CLONE of the console version.

Apart from the 'standard' network ability, it should have

- MORE contents (car, track, etc), maybe stages from the previous CMR games too?
- Replay manager and editor? (customize the camera movement, position, etc)
- Harder (more realistic handling, detailed car adjustment, and damage system for hardcore player),
- Additional game modes to take advantage of the connected PC community (eg. dedicate Championship manager app and web kit?),
- Tool for customization or mod creator (car, track, pace-note).

Maybe we can start gathering features for the PC verson ?

I am not sure how well CMR3 is selling, but bear in mind that lots of PC owners also own console system (who would probably buy the console version first, if it is good). How are you (Codemasters) going to attract them to buy the PC version again when it is released ? Surely not with just a network play addition, right ?
