Unhappy Game Freezing

Hi everyone

I just purchased Colin Mcrae 5 for PC

When i start any stage with any car, almost every time the game freezes in the middle of a race. So i have to manually restart the PC. Can anyone recommend how to resolve this problem?

Thankyou

If anything is overclocked clock it back!
Have u installed DX9?
What graphics card, sound card and CPU do u have?
How old are your graphics and sound drivers and are they recommended in the Cmr2005 "read me file"?
Do you have problems with any other game?

a bit of info would help

I have the same problems ( see other topics ) and a "sollution" is to turn off EAX.

It sounds silly, but in my case it helps.
I think it has to do with my graphics-card whitch get's to hot / is to slow.
With EAX on it craches, with EAX I see a flicker in the screen and it keeps on running.

AMD Athlon 3200+xp 2.2 ghz, 512mb RAM, CMedia audio, DirectX 9c, Win Xp Professional with SP2, ATI RADEON 9600 XT 256 Mb

All drivers are completely up to date

No problems with any other games

There were some same strange Gamefreezes on my System too. But I finished them off by installing the latest Drivers for my Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS. Somehow CMR2005 works tricky with Soundsystems that don't support EAX 4.0.

It would seem your best bet would be turning off EAX and maybe turning down the sound accelleration!
There was some info on sound issues with onboard sound in the "readme" file.
good luck

Default it's freezing here too

i got the same problems. Game (and also my pc) suddenly stops. Lot of noise is comming out of my speakers.

Contacted tech support and tried different solutions to solve this ackward problem.

Replacing all of the drivers with the latest versions. Sound, video and motherboard. Disabeling soundcard & unnessesary hardware. Booting XP up with minimum of drivers. different settings in the game sound&video. EAX disabled.

I have got an Intel 815PE chipset. PIII 1GHz pentium. audigy2ZS soundcard and a ATI 9600 videocard.

Sure this is no "tropical" hardware configuration with a lot of strange things?

no overclocking has been done. temperature of my proccesor is about 38 degrees celcius. no overheating here.

Has somebody still some idea's? i have run out of them.

could be power. If you've got a 300W PSU, upgrade it to 400W/420W.
