Each month I'll post a thread asking a question, leaving you the simple task of simply posting your answer. Best, wittiest or stupidest gets a mention in the next newsletter. What could be better?
This month: Who is the most over-rated player of the last ten years? Whether you follow the Bundesliga or La Liga, Premier Division or the Premier League, we want to know who, in your opinion, was the most over-rated player in your league over the past ten years. Who is a waster, a layabout, a total waste of good money? Post your answer, read other opinions, disagree if you want, but these are the players that will be in Club Football for you...

Thought i'd get some contravercy goin
![]() I think Beckham is the most overrated player we've seen. One good asset to his name n thats setpiece taking. He isn't England captain material, at all! A captain needs to be a loud mouth who cares more about gettin ahold of the ball rather than publicising what his next hair styles going to be. Get's plasters n bandages ready* Lee

I think Beckham doesn't deserve the publicity he gets, that's the problem - and it can be his downfall sometimes (his hair is more important than his playing).
I realised I hadn't put my suggestion. I nominate Roberto Carlos simply because he had one good free kick about six years ago and everyone still thinks when he takes a kick from 40 yards now he's going to score. He isn't - because, generally, he's useless at getting it on target.

Not sure if he was the most over-rated, but as a Spurs fan, I would certainly suggest Ramon Vega is the worst player to ever play in the Premiership. One opposing club chairman once commented, after Spurs had beaten them 1-0, that he felt they were always in with a chance of scoring an equaliser, because Vega was playing for the opposition!

I was going to vote for Beckham, but he'll win this comfortably.
I'm going to vote for the West Ham team, in particular little Joey "Chim Chimmendy Mister, can oi clean yer chimney!" Cole and Calamity James. Cole is a one trick pony. Little flicks look nice but he has no effectiveness for me. Give me Kieron Dyer any day! Scores goals and has pace and gets job done! How is James number one England keeper when he let so many in last season? They only get in the England set up due to the London Press! Sorry to all West Ham fans and my fellow forum member "WeSt HaM". I do actually quite like West Ham, but the sooner you cash in on these fancy dans and get some grafters the better! |

I can see what you mean about Mr. Cole, but his work-rate has improved a lot since he got the captain's armband. I thought he had some brilliant games after Christmas, lots of effort and passion (a bit too much against Bolton)
Beckham is overrated, but his crossing and set-pieces are still unmatched in this country. He just can't run with the ball much, or tackle. I think Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is overrated. Rarely have I seen a lazier centre forward.
