I have read that there are tomes that improve your stats. Does anyone know if you can use more than one tome per character? Can e.g. a fighter or ranger both use a strength and dex tome?

Any char can use any tome. Theres no reason why a wizard can;t use a str tome. Fighters might be annoyed but can't do anything it's up to you if you give it to them it is after all your loot.

They are even very rare, i heard only once in beta that one was found so far...

Keep this in mind from the American forums, where they get to have Devs speaking to them...

The statistic manuals do not stack with each other. A character will only benefit from the highest plus manual/tome used. Reading 5 +1 Manuals of Health will still only gain you +1 Constitution. Reading a +2 manual after having read a +1 manual will only get you +1 additional stat point.

no it keeps the ballance of the game ...

there is more than enough stackable out there, even more in DDO than in PnP.

with the way the system works - imagine just buying up 5-6 str items and getting a nice +6 to str upping your fighter to 24str+ at level 5 - see it all gets out of hand without limiting the stacking.

Once you know how it works it's easy to figure out what bonuses you'll get and if in doubt assume it don't stack.

Im actually pretty happy that tomes dont stack at all.. Otherwise you get the same powergamer crap again as in WoW (Member in group: What you didnt grind 24/7 to max out all stats with tomes? You noob.. Go play elsewhere *kick*..))

At start i hated it too that stuff didnt stack.. Right now i start to love it more and more.. It makes people alot more friendlier and it takes away the (i wanna rush effect that other games like wow have when it comes to grinding or getting loot)..
