Surely its possible for our characters to have torches and lamps equippable in our offhand slots?

I noticed yesterday the DM voice reccomended we use torches as things were 'horribly dark', and yes.. things were horribly dark, but there were no torches available..!

(on another note, elves and dwarves are supposed to be abe to see in the dark)

Yes, torches and lamps definately!
and to a lesser extent the elves and dwarves seeing in the dark.

But a big sign to light sources!

Yes this is second on my wish list. Lanterns, torches and magical light would increase that D&D atmosphere. Also a tinderbox and oil to light said torches and lanterns would be nice.
