I completed the Catacombs chain of quests for the first time tonight, and it was an enjoyable experience well scripted and with a nice twist.

Anyway, when we got to this part of the chain, we picked up another group member who had done the quest before, in one shape or form, and they warned us of the un-defeatable Wraith that spawns on this quest, playing as my Paladin I knew there was smiting to be done. So when the Wraith spawns, my first thought was not run but use LoH, which I’ll admit wasn't the wisest move as it only made it mad and I was its main target. Thanks to some quick healing from our cleric and my mace of Undead Bane I continued to smite the wraith for all that my Paladin was worth, it was a long difficult battle but we were victorious. After the group had triumphed we were disappointed to learn that there was no additional exp or even a chest.

So my suggestion, is make killing that Wraith an optional objective, with hopefully a chest spawn on completion. As something possible, but that difficult should not go unrewarded.

If you could actually defeat it its a bug. Its the ghost of the nice himself which you encounter in the prio last step. So if you defeat it here, she could not come back to you later ;)

yep, you need to copy that to the bug forum, you shouldn't have been able to even hit her.

Get an Undead Bane weapon and give it a go, you can hurt her. She was incorporeal so not every swing landed, those that did were direct bane damage. Also having 2 clerics casting healing spells on her helped (a lot), I think that my LoH hit her for 58 initially.

I know she was in the next part, but she’s a ghost, so what is killing her really going to achieve? She's already dead so nada, apart from maybe releasing her from some kind of geas to protect that crypt?

Also how can you happy state that there are things in game that are un-killable? If anything shouldn't that pi... peeve you off?
I've also heard of a certain Spider that's meant to be un-killable, but I have plans to take it down in the future when our paths cross.
That is, unless its officially declared un-killable, and I don’t see the point of including something this tempting and not being able to kill it and reap the rewards.

If you did catacombs you can already encounter that spider ;) Just go to tangleroot gorge and let us your know your failing :D
The spider is regenerating to 100% every 5 seconds. We tried it with 2 sorc nuking on her at most but the best we got was 80% ;)

edit: If you dont read quest texts dont hesitate about monsters not being killable, for all that are there is a simple background why this is at the moment so ;)

Im not 100% but i dont think that spider would be able to regenerate damage taken from a Vermin Bane weapon, so when i meet it i will post the result.

A bane weapon just bypasses any damage reduction and does extra damage, it has no effect on regeneration like it is with trolls...
