I would like one thing. Respeccing.

The reason I quit playing Diablo for example was that I could not deselect skills and try a new template. I just did not have the time to level up another character.
Even if you could only re-select your feats that would be a big help. For example if they add Prestige Classes you will effectively have to level up another character to be able to take that Prestige Class.

Also respeccing could also include you unlearn EVERYTHING, and sets your level to 1 with enough experience to train to your previous level, be that level 8, 16, or 20.

Comments?

P.S.
Now that I think of it someone might have suggested this. O well.

As a DnD player I'd say no. As a DDO player I have to say yes, but I would prefer better information provision instead. It's a mine field choosing feats and if you make a mistake you don't often realise until it's too late.

My reasons. If this were a PnP game and I were the DM I'd sit a player down and talk through any choices they made, allowing them to tweak feats and skills accordingly if they wanted to - before we started. Once we start that's different, re-roll if you want something else because I did explain your options/build. If I were a player and picked something that looked fine but didn't really suit what I was aiming for in a few levels time (many feats are dependant upon pre-requisites and sifting through what requires what is not an easy task) then I'd expect the DM to listen while I explained what I was aiming at and provide me with any advice they thought appropriate. This would go double if I didn't know what I was doing.

In DDO no such luck. It's as if they assumed many players would be familiar with the D20 rules already and what information they did put in place isn't well-ordered (feats - sorry alphabetical order just isn't well-ordered) or complete (spells and no updated feat-dependant info). It's unnacceptable that if I want to pick a feat like weapon finesse, combat stances or any of the meta-magic ones that I actually have to go and play before I discover how they affect my character and my gameplay.

Feats dependant upon a stat should be listed on the stat selection screen so you can see what you are eligable for and what you need to spend more stat points on to get.

Feats that require other feats as a pre-req should be listed on highlighting the pre-req feat on the feat selection screen. If I click dodge it should show me that later I will have the option to choose mobility, for example.

Feats that work situationally, like the rangers hated enemy feats, should list examples of the type of thing they affect. Who'd know without looking up (or already having looked up) the info outside of the game.

There could even be a drop-down list of categories to filter in similar feats that would be suited to a certain type of character build. A form of 'kit' if anyone is familiar with 2nd edition ADnD. For example, you select ranged combatant and it'd show you a list of related feats you might be interested in.

If a feat amends skills/abilities or works with only certain types of equipment then it should show exactly what is affected by choosing it. That's without having to switch screens or experiment with different equipment/stances in game in order to discover what your choice meant.

All of this and perhaps other suggestions would give the player more concentrated information rather than them having to wade through every single choice on a dis-ordered (for the purpose of better seeing what you're doing) list. If they did that then there would be no need to provide an option to respec IMO because you'd have had the pertinent information in order to make an informed choice so it's your own fault if it's not what you really wanted.
