The dreamcast was awesome!!! There were loads of great and pioneering games on it such as - samba de amigo and phantasy star online - this console changed the gaming world by bringing online gaming to the masses of consolers, also the GBA was great, the best handheld around at the moment also with many great games...
granted the saturn never really took off but it still had its own personal charm, wasn't really ever likely to challenge the playstation though...
Sega have purposely opted out of the console making market mainly because of people who dont give them a chance, i did and i still go back and play on my dreamcast now because its that good, i leave the xbox and ps2 to go back to something all the better
Then again im yet to find a console i dont like - i tend to see the best in everything... taking into account asthetics the dreamcast was better than the ps2 and on a par with xbox; in terms of games i still play most of them like i say
anyway enough of the second rant tonight
 i;ve left something for you to ponder anyway
Super

I really liked the Dreamcast, still got mine now. I always loved Segas arcade games, so being able to play them at home was what sold it to me. The reason it died off (although stuff is still coming out in Japan), is lack of developer support. Why exactly that was I'm not sure but there were loads of great games for it.

I totally agree, i dont know why but it seems since the days of the mega drive, when they made most of their own games they haven't been able to drum up third support for any of their consoles and thats ultimately the reason that they have failed,
i think it was a good idea for sega to drop out of the 'console making' market if only because they make great games and im glad to see them still making them instead of going bankrupt trying new console ideas.
Having said that i would like sega to make another console sometime in the future, perhaps in conjuction with another console maker (i.e Nintendo when they fail again with ideas like gamecube)
Dreamcast, awful console.
