Hello, I have a question regarding two legacies on hunter bows.

What is the difference between

Focus critical multiplier
Induction critical multiplier

Also what is critical multiplier? Is it like when u hit a crit critical multiplier adds to the change to transform that crit in a devestated crit?

Also like the legacies says if I have focus crit then every time I use a skill that uses focus do I have the chance to get crit multiplier?

Thanks in advance

All skills have a crit multiplier. i.e. the number that a normal hit is multiplied by if you score a critical hit.

Those legacies increase the size of that multiplier by the given percentage. So for a focus shot with a crit multiplier of say 2, if your crit multiplier legacy is +13% then instead of base damage being x2 it becomes base damage x 2.26.

The fact that our crit boosting legacy is split into 2 parts, focus and induction based skills, means to boost crit multiplier you need to spead points even further.

Those 2 legacies do not affect your chance to crit, only the amount of damage a crit will do.

Normal crits and dev crits have there own chance to occur and neither of those legacies affect the rate at which they happen.

kind of carpy when you think about, got to crit 1st to get and then only +.26 x damage of crit :p

I have been think a long time about hunter legacies and am more than happy with my 2nd age level 59 bow with induction crit, induction -power, induction -threat and and evade block rating reduction (on target).

I went that way so i could focus on an induction cycle and the fact of evade reduction should mean i hit more thus build dps that way (i seriously don'tthink a 15% crit rate base is that huge) :D

Guess it is all down to play style.

There is a nice spreadsheet from some guy in the US:

http://forums.lotro.com/showpost.php?p=3807023&postcount=1

It shows the crit multiplier doesn't add much actual damage. It's just a big number to keep us satisfied (cuz everyone loves big numbers :p)

Thats a really nice find, thank you. I am going to play with that see what results i get.

<-- bows down to OMW in gratitude.

Actual calculations prove those two legacies maxed on a first ager barely make it to a 3% (being generous) increase to sustained damage.

However, this are the two legacies that contribute the most to actual regular damage increase for a hunter. And it is sad, specially considering the bonuses through legacies that the other DPS classes have. The only other legacies that might help in any way are the avoidance ones, but they are quite expensive, and the block one goes to waste if you do the smart thing and shoot bosses from behind. Quick Shot critical rating legacy seems to be related to Precision Stance, and when I tested it, the stance bonus itself seems to be in rating numbers, so it's another one gone to waste because it's already easily at cap.

Focus critical multiplier
Induction critical multiplier
Keep in mind, both don't contribute to dev crits at the moment. Can't say if it is intendet or a bug.

Please also keep in mind even 3% overall damage could mean a few less skills, wich is a amazing increase in dps :)
Something those phatetic phrasers keep missing. :D

For those of you with the Quick Shot slow legacy on your bow/xbow.. according to early reports on US Hunter forums, the fix that was meant make that legacy work is apparently speeding the mobs up instead of slowing them down.

Quote from post:

" I've done a small test with 2 bows, one with a +8% quick shot slow legacy and one without the legacy. From 40m in strength stance in a straight line with the same mob only using quick shot once (making sure the slow hits) without auto-attack and no other attack. Did this 5 times with each bow.

With the +8% bow, mob would get to me in about 8.2sec and with the bow without the legacy, the mob took on average 8.9sec. The legacy is definetly running backwards. The mob went .7sec faster out of 8.9sec which is 7.8% so about 8%. "

So it looks like one of the those two 'desperately needed, high priority' Hunter fixes with Book 8 is borked.

And I was looking for a bow with this legacy on it for soloing... Hmm... I wonder if this fix was actually tested by the American hunters on Bullroarer...

Ahhh, we don't need it anyway, at least now we have fixed animation on ISB.. hmmm.. Do we?
