Apologies for this messy post. Having a 'mare with this forum intermittently taking out my paragraphs. Please see below :)

hi all,

as a relative newb hunter (level 45 and no other toons) and also a casual player i'd love to get some advice about what traits people have or could recommend to me.

i'm talking about all of them here, race (i'm an elf) class, virtue and legendary.

i asked a similar question about virtues before MoM and looked at the most popuar answers and geared them round for my play style. it was very useful. but i imagine the dynamics have changed now.

i would post mine, but i'm at work now and can't remeber ;P

obviously they change for different situations, but perhaps if you feel like posting, you could title your build and mark each trait with a score for its usefulness.

for example, for me it would be: (have to leave most blank due to my shocking memory)

Soloing, pugs and good all-rounder for casual play:

virtues

determination 5
justice 4
valour 3
loyality 2
wisdom 1

Race

??? 5
??? 4
??? 3
??? 2
??? 1

class...

anyway you get the idea.

the scoring might help lower levels decide what to go for first.

i know this isn't much use to you experienced players or level 60 raiders but i'd love to find out what everyone is using

cheers

As lvl60 hunter who likes to do solo pvp, solo pve, raids i use the following virtues:
-Determination 10
-Loyalty 10
-Valour 10
-Justice 10
-Idealism 10

Race:
-The +5% fellowship manouvre for G and B
-Bow damage +2%
-Sylvan Shadows
-Eldar's Grace
-the +20 fate trait (friend of man or something)

Class:
5x bowmaster for enormous damage (i recommend 4x for you since you are not lvl60 yet and don't have the legendary which required 5)
Mostly i retrait the open 2 slots for solo or fellowships. Sometimes 2x trapper or 2x huntsman, but also 1x trapper and 1x huntsman. Just depends on the situation.

For legendary i have bard's arrow, cool burn and rain of thorns, but for your level i recommend Bard's arrow OR rain of thorns and Bow of the Righteous. It will help to keep your power up.

I hope this helps a bit.

Well as i said in other threads, there are a lot of options in Moria and unlike Angmar, there's no one build anymore. For example, i have 5.1K morale unbuffed, i could easily lose valour for a power/resistance trait if needed or if desired. I'm not at that point yet, but might in the future.

For class traits: i mostly group. In groups you're only in strength stance for the last 20-30K of the boss (unless you have enough room to pingpong with two hunters or if you want to strain the healer too much), so personally wouldn't recommend slotting too many in bowmaster. Huntsmen (with reduced inductions) increases your dps in *any* stance. So i go for 3 BM/4HM. Nice allround dps (not much utility from trappers though). In the end it comes down to personal choice really. A hunter who traits in trapper will be jsut as usefull to the FS, but in a different way (unless you already have enough cc).

For legendary:Although i have only used improved press onwards (from 4 hm traits) a couple of times in Watcher fight, i kinda like it. i don't fancy coolburn. I might learn to appreciate it in time though. I jsut don't see the gain from a skill that lasts a handfull of seconds anyway, especially to trait 5 traits in BM for it.

If it helps and you dont like peeing throught power like its the next best thing since sliced bread.

try using 3 bowmaster 3 or 4 huntsmen 1 trapper for both solo and pvp and raiding. very handy very low maintanance

usually from
bowmaster: critical eye/quality of mercy/stroung draw.
huntsmen: swift and true/needful haste recovery/resolute aim/deadly percison i think atm.

basically the above gives me 20% less inductions and makes strenght of the earth alot better while still giving me 15% more dps but only 20% more power cost as apposed to 40% and also allows me to use resolute aim alot more often and with greater effect

use this in the moors instead of my 4th huntsmen trait
trapper of foes: heightened sense's.

Have to agree with some points. But like slotting bowmaster for instances can also be useful. I use it for example for all normals/signatures and sometimes elites to finish them off quickly. Then switch endurance again for the boss.
I equip cool burn only for ettenmoors, but often im too greedy to switch it for fellowships :P I like to pew pew 1 or 2 greenies every 6 minutes. :P

I think for solo use bowmaster.
Ettenmoors bowmaster or trapper.
Fellowship huntsman/bowmaster.

But its up to you, experiment a little and use what traits you like best. :)

aye like i said, personal choice. Bowmaster can be very usefull for adds or just regular mobs in instances indeed :)

thanks guys. it's great to hear peoples views on good traits for different builds.

if anyone fancies writing down the preferred traits for a certain build in order of priority, be my guest. i'm all (pointy) ears. :P
