Ok this may seem to be just me, but im bored playing my hunter in Moria.

I usually team up with a few kinnies and go blast a few quests and all i seem to do on each mob is fire a swift bow and a piercing shot and maybe throw in a merciful shot if its worthwhile.

I blame this on the damage we do.... of course :P Seems that i just press 2 buttons and a targets dead, rinse and repeat till im 60...

It may be down to the fact ive been rolling my RK/Warden alts for a bit and ive lost touch.

Anyone else feeling like this?

Not me. I'm having great fun at 60 doing all the new instances and trying out different trait lines.

As a Hunter you have more than one option open to you now. Try a few, adjust your playstyle. I'm happy to say we have more flexibilty now and for me thats added more enjoyment, especially in fellowship play.

Yeah im not 60 yet though and i know i'll enjoy the instances, its not that though just doesnt take much skill in killing your average Orc mob.

Yeah think i might stop playing with the bowmaster and try the other trait sets for fellowships.

Well i used to push three buttons in SoA all day, but not in Moria anymore. With corruptions, our increased cc, bow chants being cheaper (coz a lot more scholar items drop) and finally some skills gettin a buff, i like playing my hunter and am using a lot more skills then i was.

Same here. I'm enjoying my hunter much as ever.
With new traits and stuff it's really funny! For examle i managed to kill one boss in 16th hall with just a loremaster, resto of the kin were dead. Kited him, slowed with quick shot in strenght stance, combat traps, Heartseeker, bard's arrow trait to reset the cooldown on heartseeker and so on, but you need to have skill and it was a great challenge!

doesnt take much skill in killing your average Orc mob.

The same is true for every class, just hunters do it slightly faster :p

I'm fine as hunter...though I do pretty much the same skills all the time. Barbed arrow, quick shot, percing strike, ISB, piercing strike repeat. On occasions if there are lots of monsters i do rain of thorns at the beginning/rain of arrows...

Piercing Strike? What is that?

And Barbed arrow has got to be the most useless skill in our tool set, well, maybe behind fleet stance.

Hunter same amount of fun as it was previously maybe more.

I use nearly all the skills we have at some point during mulit mob fights.

biggest increase in use is needful heaste (hardly used it SoA)
biggest drop in use barbed arrow, maybe desert fellowship (fuuny i always forget i have that and was last to die in an fellowship i thought after ... why didnt i DF lol)

Normal 60 Orc i would go, quick shot, penertrating, swift bow, penertrating (dead orc) if he is a tougth one add either merciful, another penertrating, blind side, rejoiner one or two of those definatly dead orc.

Captain v one orc is definatly more 'boring' because it is slow, my minstrel well hard work lol.

However in a solo instance like steel libary will use vertually all skills

Barbed arrow I still have to say is good, though I only use it as extra damage now instead of actually using the side effect. My skill rotation is Barbed arrow, quick shot, piercing strike, ISB, piercing strike, Bard arrow, quick shot, and piercing strike.

Any arguement why you think it's still good?

It uses more power and has a longer induction then quick shot and i think it does less base damage. the extra 200ish damage you do over time isn't really worth it.

It gets me enough focus to use piercing strike...

For the love of god, what skill are you referring as piercing strike? That sounds like a mix between a minstrel's piercing cry and gundam SEED.

Off course!! cuz quick shot, swift bow, bards arrow does not give you focus. What a fool i was...

I still don't see a good reason to use it over quick shot...no matter what piercing stirke may be :P

Ok sometimes the slowing down of their walk is quite useful, especially with combat traps. And of course with it on you can do more damage with your sword skill, which is another part of my strategy.

As positive thinking as I can go right now (haven't slept and all) I guess he is talking about Penetrating Shot: Pierce the Darkness (light-oil modification).

Anyway, Barbed arrow consumes 150% more power than quick shot, takes 50% more time than quick shot on induction, and does a very useless common damage bleed for MEH damage. So... considering our ever-present power issues (anyone claiming to go in perma strength stance with something completely unbelievable like 100 ICPR, no power book, and no BotR slotted, feel free to exclude yourself, but I will not ever believe that), I would recommend to ditch the skill where it belongs... anywhere but in quick slot bars... There are more usefull things to slot... like... outfits... and... will food... and... crafted bows... and... level 10 pots.

I think you mean penetrating shot not piercing strike...

Improved Swift Blow after3 other skills? You want it up as often as possible, on weak mobs it is first skill I use, on tougher mobs 2nd (after quick shot)

Why on earth would you use Bards Arrow as part of a damage rotation? Its there for CC

I understand now why in previous posts you say you struggle with multiple mobs and signature mobs

For trash mobs you're only ever going to make use of 4 skills to be honest.

But I would drop your bowmaster spec in favour of a higher-dps precision stance trait loadout before you start doing the top-end instances.

That 30% +dps is not the way to maximise your damage. Looks nice on paper and most Hunters seem to assume that strength stance is the DPS stance but... well I'll let you figure it out.

I do it because when I'm soloing monsters i know i rarely use it, so I just use it for the extra damage, or as a quick get out of jail free card.

Quick Shot does more damage, has a shorter induction and costs less than half the power

*shrugs* I like some differences in my shot rotation, otherwise it would just be doing the same thing all the time. Which was what someone was complaining about.

Well why didn't you say so in the first place then? :P
