Grid.exe has stopped working.

Hello guys.

I got Grid and looked very forward to playing it. I started career mode and did the first race. At the end of the first race the game crashes and says 'Grid.exe has stopped working'.

It does this at the end of the race every single time so I can't progress further into the game.

My specs :

E4600 Stock.
4GB DDR2
HD 3870 Pro.
Windows XP Pro (I downgraded from Vista in the hope that it'd work under XP, but nope, same problem.)

Any one know how to fix this?

I'm sorry to say cined2k8 that I had/have the same problem as you (although I have actually managed to get the game to run for at least two races before it crashes - but that is rare).

This is my thread. I hope you find a solution but I have been on this support site for months now and I have not yet found a fix.

Maybe a PATCH THAT WORKS

Since patching to 1.2 i have started a new profile
1st race SanFran at completion and past the replay next screen hit continue and i get a grid has stopped working message each and every time
if i reinstall and run with 1.1 patch i can play with my teammate far down the game or start a new profile and get further than the first race
whats going on ???????????????????????????????????????

iam using the latest nvidia driver (and get same results with the previous 2 drivers)

Vista 32 2 gb ram ddr2 8800 gtx 756 meg ram onboard intel 6600 chip sata drives no other problems at all in any game recent or otherwise i thought patching to 1.2 would help with my driving force pro which is good (was good) except for a bit of a shake down the straights

Hey cined2k8 I have the exact same problem EVERY TIME straight after finishing the first race as soon as you press continue it crashes with 'Grid.exe has stopped working' error and it happens same spot every time with out fail so it wouldn't be hard to recreate so I hope they can make a patch for it soon as its seems lots of people are having this problem!

...and yes i have tried all the troubleshooting steps in these forums regarding this issue and none have worked

I think I was having this problem. This is what happens:

At the end of the race the replay runs, press ESC to exit the replay.

A race list pops up, display is still focused on the track, press Continue.

Another list pops up. At this time the game is autosaved and a different sound file is loaded (music). There is also another press Continue here. I found that if I pressed Continue too soon that GRID could crash.

So, I count to ten (or more) while the sound file is loading and wait until that sound (music) starts playing, then I press Continue. Waiting a little bit seems to help.

Thanks for the tip although my issue happens on the first screen of race results (not the second one - never have got that far) as soon as you press continue doesn't matter if you wait 1 second, 200 seconds or anything in between it never gets past it!

I thought I got the full version not a demo :(

Hey dudes, I was having the exact same problem as all of you. I could not get passed the very first race of the game. I would get first place, get passed the instant replay part, click continue then BAM, crash to desktop.

I tried alot of things nothing worked and this is what I did and so far the game seems to be working with no crashes.

I have 1.2 patch installed.

Instead of downloading the grid 1.2.exe no-dvd fix, download the 1.1 no-dvd fix and replace the 1.2 grid.exe.

Tell me if this fixes it. I'm playing the game no crashes right now, no problems at all.

I'm telling all of you here the 1.2 patch is fubar, they need a 1.2 patch fix or whatever along with a 1.3 patch.

ok, i got the game today. running latest drivers, and before i even started the game installed 1.2

exact same problem as you guys, crash to desktop straight after 1st career race has ended. im gonna try Brand X tip, and will let u kno how i get on!

has there been any other fixes for this? please help.

i just disabled sound drivers and didnt do anything! what a shame cant code masters... well, luks like i take this back to shop and get gtr evolution...

I just did what Brand X said and it worked for me.
Still have patch 1.2 running but use nocd exe for 1.1.

but this does work but you wont be able to play online drifting at all or even sp drifting. since it will cause it to crash the game out. there is a way to get it to work. but it is a long drawn out process.

since i just got threw it tonight. but i can now play it now.

So you have to use a nodvd patch?!
What a crock of crap, fix the f#*kin game already, the wait for the pc players for this patch and the 8ball thing is just bu!!****, down right rip off, i can't even finish my career without a crash.

I know one thing, i'll be spending my money on Shift before i buy Grid 2, EA may be useless but at least they don't promise something and NEVER deliver it :S
