My friend Shadow found out that was the problem with his computer. Online the other players would start race before him and he not the only one with this problem. Give this thread a read for the story:
Why? pls help (http://community.codemasters.com/forum/showthread.php?t=294336&page=1&pp=10 )
I just checked my CPU temp and as I'm typing this it's about 78 degrees F. After running a couple races in GRiD it went up to 100 degrees F.
I haven't had any problems like Shadow but I will keep an eye on my temps.
How high is too high?
My high limit is set at 167 F before it will shut down.

At a 100 degrees F is about 37.78 degree C. Your dual core is running a little hotter than mine. but I have 6 120mm fans sucking air out of my case and computer is quiet as can be. The computer case is worth the $150 dollars I spent on just the case. It a lot quieter than my second computer with a P4 and noisy high speed CPU fan.
I'm no expert, but would think 50 degree Celsius would be getting pretty hot for dual core CPU, that about 122 degrees Fahrenheit.
There is a thermal protection embedded in Core 2 Duo processors, when it's too hot, it's slowing down the processor, but this is happening when you are at 65°C (if i well remember).
So, even if 50°C is a little bit hot temperature for a full load Core 2 Duo, it's not a trouble at all.
I do not think your problem is temperature CPU related. ;)

YA anybody running with a dual core should not be running into an over heated CPU unless heat sink not on right or heat sink real, real dusty or CPU fan quits.
The dual core CPUs run a lot cooler than the older P4 CPUs like Shadow has, that had too dusty of a heat sink to keep his P4 cool enough to run GRID with out problems.

Guess I should toss in that the game ran smooth in my eyes for singleplayer since the cpu lag also affected ai cars(game not choppy or jumpy ,just the gameplay slowed down with smooth gameplay). Only noticeable online by having all cars leave start line before I could accelerate and of course having bad lap times and passed by lots of cars. Passed so much by the same type of car you are driving, you would think everyone was cheating.(Cpu lag would in turn not allow you to attain maximum speed)
Now that purple has decoded this line in my post LOL "I wont say what the cause of my overheating cpu was but will say smoking has never bin recommended around cpu's for a reason."
Yes I was the proud owner of a dirty fan :D , I also have a 3 inch hole in side of cpu with a duct going to the cpu fan.(easy quick check with flashlight to see if fan dirty, but never thought to check it  )
Furthermore, I'm now running the game "online" with crowds/flags/wind/skidmarks/mirrors turned on , and will keep turning up graphics until I actually notice some Video lag.
Currently I have lights/particle effects/car mesh/car driver on high. Trees/reflections/shadows on low.Post process on and 2x AA
P4 3.0 (now overclocked by 5% to 3150 mhz)
winxp pro 32 bit , service pack 3
net framework 3.5
Asus P5P800 (built on sound and ethernet)
3 gigs ram
ATI 1650 pro 512 meg (agp) Cat drivers:8.5 (no CCC, just the default vid driver)
Main background proggy's run while playing:
asus pc probe (to monitor cpu temperature)
zone alarm
avg antivirus
msn messenger and or teamspeak
Browser open in second monitor opened to gridjoint.com to view the B.S box (quick and easy chat place to organise or find others currently in a online lobby to race.)

I got 3 120mm fans running full time in this case

plus our window unit is right next to our desk and it's set at 68 degrees F so I don't think I should have any overheating problems.

Aslong as your CPU, GPU, Chipset stays below 70c its fine, if any chip gets over 70c im gonna start looking at ways to get better cooling.
