Visual Problem? Distorted Shapes upon startup?

Hey there, i just bought the game a few days ago, and started playing, and played, saved played saved. Everything was working great. Until just yesturday when i tryed to start up Grid when i got the to the menu all i could see was off color funky shapes, none of the menu at all, but i could hear everything just fine.

4gb corsair xms2 DDR2 800
250 GB 7200 seagate barracuda
MSI Radeon HD 3870 factory oc 800Mhz
ecs a770m mobo
antec 900watt psu

everything was working fine, but then all of the sudden it started doing this, i cant get a print screen because it would just turn up black so i needed to take a picture via camera.

Do you guys have any clue how i might be able to fix this?

Hardware wise, look like you have plenty fast enough computer, faster than mine. Since game was running fine, did you try just shutting down computer and then rebooting to see if it was fluke?

Are you running stock GRID or did you install new v1.2 patch? What Windows are you using XP or Vista, 32-bit or 64-bit?

Ya GRID don't have print screen button since Fastback feature uses the F12 key.

Ive tryed rebooting and even reinstalling the game so i know it cant be something with the game. Im running teh 1.2 version and ive got vista ultimate 32 bit. ive got all of the latest drivers and hotfixes from microsoft and my video card drivers are catalyst 8.6 (the newest i think)

im really stumped on this one, ive never had a problem like this before.....

I don't have an ATI so I'm going to guess...

In the ATI video driver there is a setting named "Geometry Instancing" I think. If it's off turn it on, if it's on turn it off and see if that makes a difference.

Check all the settings in the ATI video control panel, one or more of the settings could have been changed by some other application or even changed by some random failure.

nope, i couldnt find any geometry instanceing setting. i set the settings back to default and still same problem :[ i rlly miss playing grid, i finally found a racing game that i like lol

Was this before you install v1.2 patch? It not the installing on V1.2 patch that is causing the problem and stock GRID works fine?

yes, i was running the stock version of grid when it first happened, and then i installed the patches to see if maby they would solve the problem but it didnt :[

google for "DNA 8.6 drivers ATI Vista", or search this forum cause i posted it a while ago. Those modded drivers stopped my random crashes in races with AA enabled. I don't post links cause i m using my gf's pc, and hers is very slowwwww. In the modification subforum someone also made a launcher....maybe you should give it a go (it works with v1.1, dunno about 1.2)
