this issue has been since day 1.
i can hear skids, wind, other cars, but NOT my engine.
i upgraded PC because I thought it was an issue that my PC couldn't handle GRID.
still, i turn down graphics settings, still no engine sound.
and it says Hardware Acceleration Off .. is that right ?
I'm getting worried for F1 2009 :(

I have the same problem. For the first week the sound was fantastic. Now, I can`t hear my engine and I can`t here the speaker`s voice anymore. All other sounds like music... are o.k.
Any idea????

If Hardware Acceleration Off, then I take it you are using onboard sound?
Might want to buy a good sound card. But don't be buy Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio. This card has no DSP chip and uses the CPU for some sound chores.

@purp: I'm sure that you 'll know where it is o font of all GRID knowledge. I have the same problem in that HW accell is off (and can't be turned on) and I have a fatality gamer. Doesn't cause a huge problem as the software sound is OK, but it would be better to shift the processining to the soundcard where it's supposed to be.
Any tips (vista 32 btw)

Ah Lomion, that sound card has it own special thread:
X-Fi xtremegamer fatal1ty pro won't work with GRID or DiRT (http://community.codemasters.com/forum/showthread.php?t=288051&page=1&pp=10 )
Give this whole thread a read and find out about the problems with Soundmax drivers and OpenAL ( adi_oal.dll file ).
Here link to OpenAL drivers Creative recomend:
