I installed the patch on Thursday evening and gave it a quick go, and everything seemed ok (only played for about 10 mins).
Yesterday evening (Friday) I invited a mate over to play GRID, but the game just kept giving us issues, so we had to go play DiRT in the end.
The list off issues we had :
1. Game would lock, and monitor would loose video signal. Required a hard reset of the PC as Ctrl-Alt-Del etc did nothing.
2. Crash to desktop with the 'GRID.exe has stopped working' error in the middle of a race.
3. Sound completely died in the middle of the race, and I had to quit the game. I tried rerunning the game immediately, but the sound was still gone, and I had to reboot to get it back again - was also not working in windows after the problem in GRID.
I had the first issue the most and the other once or twice each. But it was just unplayable. We did manage to finish a few races, but had to give up and go play something else. Worst case was start GRID after a previous crash and reboot, go into Race Day and start a race. The game completely locked up before the countdown to start the race had finished.
I'm going to try uninstalling the game, reinstalling it, and then just apply the 1.2 patch without going to 1.1. first. If that doesn't make things better, then I'll have to go back to the 1.1 patch and wont be able to play online any more :( I'm assuming 1.2 is not compatible with 1.1?
1.1 worked fine for me and I had very few issues with it (except the crash on exit every time, but that was ok). I am also still on the same set of drivers for as I was for 1.1 so I don't think it's a driver issue.
Anyone else seeing more problems with 1.2 than with 1.1?

I did the following and the game seems a lot better now.
1. Backup the saved games folder.
2. Uninstall the game.
3. Manually removed any remaining files for the game.
4. Installed from DVD.
5. Immediately patched to 1.2.
6. Coppied backup saved game files over the top of the new ones.
So it seems that applying the 1.2 patch on top of the 1.1 patch simply doesn't get the same result as applying on top of the 1.0 version of the game. Looks like there is something wrong with the patch generation software.
Anyway, things 'seem' to be working OK for me now, except that I got a complete system lock when exiting the game once. Had to press the Reset button.

Game just crashed again in the middel of a race :(
It's such a shame because I love this game, but since the 1.2 patch, it seems to be more unstable than it was with the 1.1 patch :(
Oh well, the new FlatOut comes out on Friday :)

Point 1 and 3 are typical hardware problems, sound like a defective motherboard chipset to me...

Don't think it's hardware. Even DiRT runs flawlessly for me and never crashes. Other games that I run and never crash include :
o CoD4
o Unreal Tournament 3
o FlatOut 2
o ToCa Race Driver 3
o rFactor
o Team Fortress 2
o Crysis
o Peggle Deluxe :)
And as I said earlier, path 1.1 never gave me as many issues as I have now. The problem is, I can't race online with 1.1 against others with 1.2 patch.

Its not hardware. The crashing problem used to happen to me as well on 1.2.
Im back to 1.1 and no problems now whatsoever.
P.S When i had 1.2 i could race with people with 1.1, but now ive got 1.1, can i race with people who have 1.2?

i never had any problems with 1.0 or 1.1 and now with 1.2 BSOD when i exit the game. Im going to try patching right from 1.0. If that doesnt work ill just go back to 1.1.

I'd also like to know if I can play online with people who have 1.2 if I run 1.1.
Anyone know?

Just want to backup those having probs since 1.2,...happening to me also since the 1.2 patch. I had no crashes with 1.1, but since 1.2 I get CTDs after some races going back to the garage. Its pretty random tho. I'm going back to 1.1 until this is resolved. There's nothing more frustrating than wining a race that takes you to the next tier only to be staring at your wallpaper seconds later.
I really like this game and am positive this will be figured out....just a hiccup.
My system is current: Core2Quad, BFG GTS8800 512oc, 3 gigs ram, Vista Home Premium x86. I run games like Crysis, BioShock, Oblivion, DIRT, pretty much flawlessly

Make sure your running the original .exe of the game. The unofficial no-dvd 1.2 patch is bugged and crashes often. I don't like swapping disks when I play and use no-cd/dvd patches when I can and this is how I know this. And yes I buy my games to support devs cause without money there will be no new games to play!!! :)
I just experienced my first CTD in 1.2 while joining a host online. I had played in single player for an hour before that with out a hitch.
I did not install the 1.1 patch at all.
Thanks for the info on the no/dvd 1.2 Meteor. I was about to look for one but now I think I will wait.

I have today @ least 3 CTD with patch 1.2 - its random.
2 of them happens after the race (before unloading) and the last one was before enter the race (just when start to loading).
Crashes in this game are pretty common, but it's start to getting annoying tbh!.
Just played online for about 90mins and not a single crash or any other issue.
I did have that "GRiD has experienced a problem and needs to close" error after I exited the game but that don't bother me none.
Hell FlatOut 2 has had that error for years. HeHe
1.2 crashes for me too so have had to go back to 1.1

That was it man. Not Codies fault at all. I totally forgot I even did that. I hate having a DVD in the drive while playing any game and I will always, un-apologetically use a no-DVD patch. No pirating going on here, just hate the DVD in my drive after its installed...less airflow through the case and an extra hunk of heat that doesn't need to be in there. You can use a DVD as a hotplate for your coffee after its been in there. Thanks dude!

CONFIRMED.
Don't use the "no-dvd" exe. Having the DVD in the drive is annoying but hey, at least it works.

Yep, that is until a correct one is offered up, which it already has been. I'm just kidding :p No I'm not. I bought the game, Ill use a patch every single time for every game I own. 99% of the time they work flawlessly. Sorry dudes, but I do not want the dvd sitting in there after the game is installed and it never will be if I own it. At least this doesn't have that starforce crap that makes you reboot after you install a game. There's no way anyone should have to reboot after installing a friggin game.
OK. rant over.
