Grid 2008

Hi, i bought grid dvd for my pc, it didnt work what so ever, then i updated my drivers and it loads and starts but as soon as i press any keys it goes off. so i down loaded the new patch 1.2. But it comes up saying the is no version of grid on the system to update. so it doesnt recoginse that grid is installed already, does any one know how i can install the new patch?? Plz Help
