Hi folks.

Sorry to hear about the problems. When posting, can you please provide as much information as possible. Can you repeat it? What process leads up to the problem - stuff like that.

If you can read through our Tech Support FAQ (http://community.codemasters.com/forum/showthread.php?t=279123) thread and see if any of that helps. Failing that, can you please post full dxdiags. Again, that thread will show you how to do this.

Same error here :(
The error is displayed as soon as you start the game. I've tried both GRID.exe in normal mode and in Safe mode.

Here is a more in-depth-look of the error given.

Specs:
CPU: AMD AthlonXP Barton 3200+ @ 2.3GHz (tried @2.2GHz as well)
Mobo: Albatron KX18D Pro (Latest BIOS)
VGA: ATI Radeon X1950 PRO 512MB AGP (Catalyst 8.2)
RAM: 2x1GB Crucial @400MHz (2.5-3-3-6)
OS: Windows XP Professional SP3
Antivirus: ESET NOD32 3.0.650

I suppose it has something to do with SP3 or maybe no support for Bartons?!

Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Same problem like F@ruk.
my system:
Amd Sempron 2800+
1024 gg ram
Geforce 7600GT , 169.21 (latest driver)
Windows XP SP3
can anyone help us to solve this problem?

I think that is the problem with sse2 , i get this problem with other games like assasin`s creed , juiced 2 , and we can`t do anything just get a new procesor......it`s annoying.
Anyone who played Call of Duty 4 , remember that we had to modify an extension of a file to make the game work?does work at this game?

It could be Windows XP service pack 3 related. I will pass this on

Nope, I have Vista Ultimate (without SP1) and I get the same problem. My specs are:

Asus A7V600
AMD Athlon 2600+ XP
2x512 MB RAM
GF 7600GS

Could it be that the game requires SSE2 cpu to run? Because all the old AMD processors mentioned here (including mine) only support SSE1. I think there was the same problem with CMR Dirt. It's really annoying, everyone else usually provides 2 .exe files, one for SSE1 and one for SSE2.

I will have to find out about Service Pack 3. If you are having problems without Service pack 1 on Vista, you will need to get this first.

I dont thing it is caused by any SPs.. look to one interesting think... everyone in this topic has an "singlecore" procesor of older generation AMD products (like athlon xp, semptron etc) so maybe is better to start looking for an mistake somewhere else:) i am typing this cause i have the same problem and my configuration is:

AthlonXP 3000+
1GB ram
Windows XP - SP 2
Geforce 6800

exact problem here

game won't start, grid.exe error.

My specs:

Core 2 Duo E6750
2GB ram
Windows XP 32 bits - SP 2
Geforce 8800 GTS

I had the SP3 installed, then I installed Grid Demo. I clicked the shortcut and nothing happens. I tried directly with the .exe , and had the same luck.

I proceed to uninstall SP3, reboot the PC, uninstall Grid and reinstall it. Again, it doesn't start. I don't know what's the problem.
Some posts above, someone said that it could be a problem on single core processors, but it's not my case.

So, I can't play it yet :(

PD: Sorry for my bad english =P

Yep, our problem is that we get .exe error, whilst you two get nothing at all :) . I still think it's because Codemasters didn't do compatibility for SSE1. And sorry for this, but I have to call them lazy bums, it would take them about 10 minutes to do this, everyone else does it :D (I can still play all the modern games so far).

If you have a 32 bit Athlon CPU (Barton core) then you will not be able to run Grid I'm afraid. The game needs an SSE2 compatible CPU to run. Older single core Athlons are SSE1.

The readme does state an Athlon X2 3800 as the minimum and there is no workaround. Sorry.

so sad to hear that :(

The minimum CPU required by the game is an Intel P4 3.0GHz, or an Athlon-64 CPU. Semprons and Athlon XP chips are not supported.

This may change before release, but it is unlikely. Watch out for the minimum spec posted for the full game.

i've got an P4 2.66 @ 3.46g, 2 gb ram ddr2 800, 660gb free space, and an 8600 GTS 725/2200 mhz, and it doesn't even start.. I don't have trouble playing other games like, Assassin's Creed, Turok, Crysis, and the run perfectly fine on medium or high (AC)

Could anyone please tell me what the problem could be ?? is it the processor ??
I was thinking of buying next month a QX9650 or maybe the QX9770 who knows, in the mean time, i would appreciate it if someone could help me ! thanks

I too am on XP SP3 and am having trouble playing the game.

I right clicked the shortcut and turned on compatibility mode for win98 (didn't try the other ones yet) and the game ran.

I can play in compat mode, but I can't change the resolution on the graphical settings, it runs, but pixelated like whoa!

Guys, scroll up and read the codemasters rep's reply. If you do not have a processor that support SSE2 instructions, then you CANNOT play this game at all. EVER.
