Xbox360 Version of Demo

Problem : Excessive Brightness / Gamma

Fix Needed : Gamma Adjust Slider

Most Affected : LCD Monitor / Displays

I have connected my 360 Elite to an Acer AL2416W ws 24inch Monitor via HDMI digital cable. Grid demo colours are very "washed out" looking and the white levels are excessively high as if the Gamma is excessive. Perhaps a result of the Hdr Bloom effect ?

I tested the game in 720p and 1080p also trying different reference levels. I have tried all the different configs and tuning the contrast/brightness on the LCD monitor as well as tweaking the colour temp without much improvement.

I then connected my 360Elite to my Sony CRT 32 inch widescreen TV via composite cable. Set display to 1080i which is highest my Sony goes to. The display is very noticeable better than on the ACER LCD and although the Bloom white levels are still way too high the game is totally playable and more enjoyable.

As I normally play on my ACER LCD ws I am hoping Codemasters are aware of this problem and that a Gamma Level adjust slider is implemented in the retail release or that a patch may follow over XBL soon after release.

Many of us play on LCD monitors now and I am certain many will find as I have that it needs to be fixed asap.

Thanks codies, the demo is great fun, I hope you may give us some positive feedback on this problem soon.

cheers

I agree w/ Blanes: Demo display Overbright plus seems like bloom or HDR is cranked up (I dislike both BTW). Hence colors and scene details are badly washed out on LCD (ViewSonic 19", 1280x1024 x 32bit, 75Hz refresh), I have Asus 8800GT 512MB video card w/ nVidia drivers.

I hope codies give some reply or feedback on this issue because it is drowned out here by all the PC issues unfortunately :(

maybe after the weekend we get a response hopefully ?

Uncle Chewy has answered in another post asking for more details so if anyone else with an LCD display is experiencing this please add your comments & experience in the hope that Codies may implement a Gamma or Brightness adjust in the Retail version, perhaps by way of patch if its too late now. PC version has this adjustment so 360 & PS3 users should not be left out.
