Won't allow me to save the nicknames

Jesus guys!!! Why is it that everytime I download a CM demo... I have some form of trouble with it running "right out of the box"? I either lose settings or some other weird issue? Why? Every other company's demos or games usually work first time.
I just downloaded and setup GRID. On starting the demo... I input all the info on the first page and confirm... then it ask me to save to a slot... On that page I have Male, Female, Nickname with return and escape as the only option. I try to save but everytime, it ask me if I want to create a new profile...most annoying. What's more I can't escape because I guess without creating a full profile...that option does'nt exist, so I have to CTRL+ALT+DEL to shutdown. What's that all about? Guys I should'nt need a PHD just to create a profile.

Finally, finally....after much frustration, I was able to save the profile I created to a slot, by repeatedly tapping the ENTER key while the screen scrolled back and forth at the 'save profile (please select a slot)' and the 'create a new profile' screens. This inability to save was NOT caused by a defective keyboard or sticky keys, so the demo has a few issues yet.
I actually like the demo, now that I've got it running. I like the car and feedback response. If the issue I had originally, does not turn out to be widespread, I'll probably get it based on what I've seen so far.
