Lo all, having an issue in Vista.

Now it will be worth noting I had the same issue with the UT3 demo when that came out, the workaround for the demo then was to manually create the game save folder structure within the My Docs folder (User folder in Vista) and the reason for this is that I have my "documents" folders mapped to a 2nd hdd away from the Windows disk so the demo kept ooking for the game save folder in the default location and NOT the 2nd hdd location since that's the "my documents" folder for my system.

EDIT*
The other alternative to UT3 was to create a -nohomedir switch to the games shortcut which forced it to create savegames in the game installation folder...trying this now!

EDIT2*
The above did not work....

Other people had the same problem.

Now I asked elsewhere if someone could post the folder structure to the Gamesave folder so that I could manually create it and see if it works but alas it does not.

I have been told that this is the correct structure from someone who has the demo on Vista:

C:\Users\MYUSERNAME\Documents\Codemasters\GRID Demo\savegame

Now I have created the Codemasters\GRID Demo\savegame structure every location that could be seen as a save location by the game and it still does not work, this is what happens ingame (http://robbiekhan.co.uk/root/games/GRID/GRID_savegameissue.wmv) [1.6MB WMV] when trying to create the initial profile.

- I am on Vista32 Ultimate, I have UAC off, I have AVAST AV only set to scan on create/modify. I don't use any other resident scanners that may interfere.

- I have 2 harddrives, C: is Windows and M: is My Documents with all folders from user/username mapped here as the default location.

- I have tried running the game in "safe mode" as it is an available option from Vista Game Explorer too but the same happens there.

I need to play this demo man!

Humm, did you try to create the folder in the C drive ?
Because as its the primary drive so that means the original folders will always be created there!

Or try reinstalling....I have x64 Vista Ultimate and it works fine, tho when I launched the game for the first time it gave me millions of errors like Application cannot start because its Dumb, and Error this and that...but that only happened for the first time, now it works fine :)

Good Luck

Damm lol!
I guess its your Bad day then.... you're better at Photography than installing games j/k

Good Luck!

Edit: Just noticed that the Save structure is

C:\Users\MYUSERNAME\Documents\Codemasters\GRID Demo\savegame\Autosave0\

If that doesn't works then how about I create a new username for you on my pc and then send you the folder ?

This might not apply to you, but apparently the game won't start if you map your my documents folder to the root of a drive. See this thread (http://community.codemasters.com/forum/showthread.php?t=279545)

If you don't know what mapping your my documents folder means, then it's probably not the problem you are having.

It is the problem I am having as with the other thread (all explained in my original post!)

I'm not a novice user and this makes it all the more annoying knowing that a bug like this (which is simple all in itself) is overlooked and ends up causing mild chaos for those of us who manage our own gaming systems in this way!
