PC Demo flickers like hell!

Hi,

When trying to play the demo, I get massive flickering arifacts which render the game unplayable.
I have updated my graphics drivers and DirectX, but that didn't solve the problem.

Here are my specs:

Core2Duo E6600
Asus P5B Deluxe Mainboard
2GB DDR2 800 Kingston HyperX RAM
ATI X1950Pro 512MB
Creative X-Fi Platinum Sound
2x 250GB HD (Raid-0)
Windows XP Pro 32bit

P.S.: I've read something similar happened with the DiRT Demo for X1950 users. That's strange, because the regular DiRT game worled flawlessly for me...

x) Graphical corruption on ATI’s Radeon X1xxx cards:

You may experience graphical problems if using a Radeon X1300 through to X1950 graphics card with Catalyst 8.3 drivers. This is down to a problem with this specific version of the drivers, and can be fixed by switching to a different driver version. At the time of writing, the problem must be fixed by rolling back to an older driver version. To do this, first uninstall the Catalyst 8.3 drivers via the control panel (Add/Remove Programs in XP, or Programs and Features in Vista), then browse to the following website: ati.amd.com/drivers. Choose your operating system and graphics card from the lists, and click GO. If the subtitle of the page is “ATI Catalyst™ 8.3 Display Driver…”, scroll to the bottom of the page, and choose “Previous Drivers and Software”. Download and install the Catalyst 8.2 drivers.

Future driver versions (i.e. 8.4 and later) should be fixed so that this problem no longer occurs.

Well I have a X1950XT with Catalyst 8.4 and the demo flickers like hell...
I really hopes it gets fixed, I wanna buy this game...

I've got the same problem with my Ati X1950 XTX, drivers catalyst 8.4

A new set of ATi drivers are due for release soon - I think next week but not certain. So if you roll back to version 8.2, make sure you always create a system restore point.

Also, if you are running in SLi/Xfire mode, this could also cause a problem here.

Yes, catalyst 8.4 does flicker (as does 8.3). If you want to enjoy the demo, you'll have to downgrade to 8.2.

Let's hope that 8.5 fixes the problem. I don't like using outdated drivers...

I installed the (unofficial drivers) omega drivers, and it works.
They use the 7.12 catalyst drivers.

Almost everytime a new game comes out, i've got problems with the catalyst ... so i use the omega drivers as a temporary solution.
With the 8.2, i've got problems with "The Witcher".

The official 8.5 will be out in a few days, i think.
