If I have time this evening I will try and write a little guide to being a hunter. I don't pretend to be the world's best hunter, but I'm pretty good and I've been playing it a long time ;).

The first thing I would say is to not listen to the 'advice' that other classes give out. They inevitably will say 'don't grab aggro' and 'don't break my mezzes' which are things that are important later on in the game, but by no means things that need to enter your consideration early in the game. Also bear in mind that you will be exposed to mickey-taking, which can sometimes verge on vitriol because of the class you have chosen - in my experience only minstrels suffer worse!

It would help if you said what level you are, and also in particular what problems you are having with the class :) .

Yes it is true, hunters do get alot of grief! Just for being hunters lol. We are usually left to clean up after the champ or guard has fired off random bows without warning!!!

I am sure the guide you seek isn't focusing on what buttons to press lol even if there was a guide the best way to learn and adapt is through trial and error!

Here is a little quick guide:

1. Remember you still have the highest dps ability in the game, in a Fellowship let guardians and champions take some of the target's health away first.

2. Soloing is quite easy for hunters, therefore expect to possibly level faster than some classes.

3. Concentrate on using your bow/arrow abilities, keep just within the range for aiming. The longer the distance between a hunter and a mob, the less chance the mob has of afflicting any damage! Don't concern yourself with your melee capabilities, they are meant to be lacking!

4. Remember your abilities increase with effectiveness, each time you level up. So it is a good idea to continue using barb arrow/blind sight etc (abilities learned in the much lower levels) as they will prove very useful in most situations.

5. Always use 'Focus' when possible, when a hunter has full focus it is easier to use other abilities which deman a higher level of focus for use. Rather than trying to make the focus in-combat.

That may or may not prove useful, they are just guidelines for staying alive and enjoying being a hunter!

1 - Dont neglect your melee abilities. They will save your life, especially when something unexpected happens. This is especially true now that one of our top 3 most damaging attacks is a melee attack.

2 - if you get the urge to use Rain of Arrows, stab yourself in the eye until the urge goes away. If it still seems like a good idea to use Rain of Arrows then think about it for a few seconds longer. If it STILL seems like the right skill for the moment, then go ahead and use it!
