read this on the champions update list.
Shoot
Shoot is a remnant from the time when there were no ranged auto-attacks. Champions still have this skill, but in its current state it serves little purpose. Shoot has been renamed to "Let Fly" and given a damage bonus and a slightly increased range. (This will affect Guardians and Hunters as well.)
so we are getting increased range brings up alot of questions like how much extra? will this scale with conjunction range? etc
very interesting

The update is talking about the skill specifically, Hunter's don't have a Shoot skill, so I'm unsure how it should affect us. I can only imagine it means that it may affect one of our skills, or just the fact Champs/Guards can shoot a little further with the skill. I don't expect this to change the ranges of auto-shots, especially since our current maximum range is fairly far already, and typical engagement ranges are only 20m really.
On the other hand, we may be given that skill as well. Besides the potential boosted engagement range, if the inductions and cooldowns are he same, I don't see any reason to use it over Quick Shot.

Our farthest range is 50 meters. Most (if not all) bow skills are 40 meters I thought?
I do know that even if a target runs out of the range of an induction skill (notable exception being Heartseeker) the shot still fires if it doesn't get beyond that 50 meters.

A Dev did post on the Turbine forums that the "affects Hunters" part was a mistake.
"Let Fly" will replace "Shoot" for Guards and Champs, Hunters are unaffected.
Haven't posted the exact quote/source because I can't be bothered finding it again - feel free to go check the Turbine forums though, it's in there somewhere ;).

Let Fly - the modifications to this skill were changed after the Dev Diary was submitted. Instead of the increase in range, Let Fly's induction time has been halved and the damage increased. The skill will now also turn on auto-attack. This change has no effect on Hunter's as far as I know.
Too bad :/

aslong as we hunters get an in-combat heal with this patch i'll be glad and might even stay longer in the moors with my hunter, for now its a joke, you're the only person out there with no chance of self healing (potions/mantrait/food ofcourse, but not all of use it) and it would make our durability in PVE/PVP far better.

do we get a self-heal in Book 12??? or is it a joke ;)
It's a joke Riffie, hunters will never get a self heal, it's just not what we are "intended" to do.

and therefore hunters are a laugh, only survival skill we have is DF...and with the changes to RoT and fear our survivability went even lower, fear one and get 10, root resistance to high (many times i just see damage no resisted above) and the merciful shot change whas a nerf aswell, since you dont have 6 focus anymore while enemy at 25%.

Is the Hunter fear different from the Minstrel one ? With the Minstrel one, fear is still great in areas where there aren't mobs of the same type, or allied to the one you are fearing, close enough to be aggroed by it. Which whilst it isn't true in every fight, is true in a lot, especially as you have often got multiple mobs to deal with BECAUSE they've just aggroed you and are no longer standing near.

More range?
Whats the point apart from PvMP?
PvE solo satnd further away from the target yes you get more shots before they get to you but yes you also have more chance of adds, pat aggro.
fellowships, how many time do hunters get adds because thier 'azz hangs' out as bait? alot so hunters predominatly shorten range to just outside AoE's radius of a mob.
Instances, see fellowships and to far to heal
Also ingame issues, if you get to far from a mob the pathing/anti expliot cuts in (swirling ??? marks), more range more chance of it happening, this means you move and loose focus.
More range? foget it waste of time. oh did i say useful in PvPM? dev stated no changes would be made where the benefit is for the purpose of PvPM.

From what I understand, hunter skills will still have the 40m range and champions/guardians can shoot up to 35m (current 30*, afaik).
Nothing wrong with that. :)
And it will hardly matter in PvMP because the ranged damage of champions and guardians is laughable.
*And even if it is 40m with the skill, 45m makes no difference whatsoever.
