View Full Version : CMR3 on PC - why should we have to wait??

Okay so we've seen that CMR3 will becoming to the PC... BUT AFTER THE XBOX AND PS2 RELASE

WHY?

Why should us PC users have to wait till after the console release of the game? It happens quite often now (just look at the release of Halo, that was meant to be PC first but oh no XBOX took that away).

Bloody consoles screwing us PC gamers over!!

Makes me sick!!!

Yeah, this is just another example of how the console makers are trying to rob the gaming market away from PC's. If anything else they should release the X-Box and PC version at the same time, the code for the 2 games is sooooo close it is crazy. Well I am still playing CMRR 2.0 and loving it! Er, so when is the PC release? Or is there even going to be one. I did not see it on the main page.

Well in the past the PC version has always been the realistic one. Maybe thats coninuing on. Possibly the physics are better.

I see someone who doesn't understand the history of gaming.

Console games came first, then PC games came. Yes, PC games are popular, but the mainstream gaming is still console games. (Don't get me wrong, I ONLY play PC games (or emulators on PC))

So what's up with this nonsense claim that Console games are robbing PC games? The truth is totally the opposite.
The reason why PC release is later than consoles...is probably because they have to modify their codes. Whatever you write for PS2 doesn't just run perfectly on PC.

I think that they should write the PC-code first. The PC can do much more advanced things (and also it's improving in graphics etc. every day) so that code should be written first. Then it should be simplyfied for the consoles. This is what I think I don't know how they really does it...

There are many factors involved in this issue.

The PC version has a lot more compatibility issues (graphics, processor and sound) which need to be addressed and then QA'd

It has network code which is unique to the PC platform.

It needs to have scalable performance to accomodate different specifications.

It has some different controller options.

This extra work tends to push PC versions past console versions.

PC games need to undergo more testing than console games. There are hundreds of different combinations of hardware that can make up a PC e.g.. Sound cards, Graphics Cards, Motherboards, not to mention all of the different controllers and wheels you can get for the PC. For this reason we need to test the compatibility of PC games with as many hardware combinations as possible and this can take months. Obviously you do not have this problem with a console as you only have one possible configuration and a very small amount of official controllers. It is not that we purposely delay the release of the PC version of the game its just that we are able to release the console versions earlier as they do not need as much compatibility testing.

Hiya,

Speaking of network code, is the Xbox version planning to support multiplayer over the MS Network coming this summer? That would be really cool... (crosses his fingers)

Cheers,

Perhaps it would be nice for CM to make some money from the console sales before the PC release and inevitable *****ing..

Personally I use linux exclusively, so I'm looking forward to the PS2 release.
